Armies of the Abyss.

Is that sorta like the Dan Akroyd/Ghostbuster's deal?

No, it's from Robocop. There was a short, bald (I think) guy who was occasionally shown on TV with scantily clad women who would say 'I'd buy that for a dollar!'

Yeah but he's evil, so unless it was part of the deal why would he?

This a favourite expression among my friends.

It comes from the arcade game SMASH TV, though it might be in Robocop a well.

Another great quote from SMASH TV:

"Big Money, Big Prizes, I love it!"

Robocop - 1987
Smash TV (arcade) - 1990

And considering the style of Smash TV I wouldn't be at all surprised if they designers lifted the line right from Robocop.

I am sorry, I didn't mean to imply that it originally came from Smash TV. But, as I haven't seen Robocop I could only vouch for it being from that game.

It would not be surprised at all to learn that it was taken from the movie. Video game programmers are infamous for that kind of thing. Just look at Duke Nukem 3D and Army of Darkness.

no reason to be sorry

You haven't seen Robocop!? What's wrong with you!?

Any way once you mentioned Smash TV I had to check to see what came first and once I found out I posted it here.

Wow, I feel like my existence has been validated. Thank both of you for knowing about the same piece of americana minutiae. :)

For the record, I remembered the line from Robocop. For some reason, the line really caught on with me and my friends. I never saw Smash TV.

To get this back on topic - I already have Legions of Hell, and I think it's one of the best sourcebooks produced so far for D&D. I am really looking forward to Armies of the Abyss.

Uhm cause he knows I'm a great prophet and evangalist? ;)

Ok, that might work, but it's probably more fun torturing by not saying anything.

I hope my copy shows up soon, it'd be nice to know what everyone's talking about. Oops, I mean LoH since AoA obviously isn't out yet.
