Sorry about the delay. I'll try to post an introduction in the next 24 hours, and finalize my character. Since it's my first time, this is a somewhat daunting task, and many things have been stealing my attention recently.

Does the library catalog which Merin referred to actually exist? Because if so, passing it around back-channel while the last few players chime in might be a way to facilitate what could easily be a very, very long charter meeting.

No, I haven't had the opportunity to put together a list of the books available. I'll probably try to work something out tonight, at about the same time as I put together the next post laying out some of the charter issues that you need to figure out. I'll get it out as soon as I can.

Sorry about my delay in posting. I wanted to give our last player a chance to post his character intro before I posted the next step. It's not his fault, since I bounced a major part of his character fairly late in the process and he had to rework. I'm posting tomorrow regardless of whether he's posted.

AP360: Unfortunately, the game already has more players than I would ideally want, and I already have a couple of people who've asked to be on a wait list. You might try posting a message at the Ars Magica message boards to see if there's a play-by-e-mail game that would be happy for you to join. (There's a link to them off of www.atlas-games.com. BTW, the Atlas Games site also has a link where you can download the main rulebook for free, since you mentioned having gotten rid of your books. Sorry I don't have space for you.

For my players: I'm about to post Polybius's next comments. That will set up a discussion of what the charter should look like. Everyone should respond to every point Polybius raises, even if just to say "I don't care." Also, please indicate strengths of positions in square brackets after each issue. For example: "I think we should have a monarchical primus, chosen for life and with tremendous power." [I care a ton about having the primus be chosen for a long time; I could live with 10 or 20 year terms, as long as the new Primus is chosen by some means other than by lot or rotation. I support having a Primus who is as strong as possible, but that's less important than the long terms.]

This will let me (as Polybius) resolve the conflicts by writing up a complete charter, taking into account people's social skills and intensity of desires and so forth.

Also, people should really try to post within one week of Polybius's message. Otherwise, this will get bogged down.
