I just tried upcasting damage spells like healing spells. Works well.OFC yes, anyway in 99% of the cases 1st level spell casted at 3rd level is weaker than 3rd level spell
off topic, fix upcasting;
for damage spells, it's waste of an ink ever writing upcasting options.
2 dice per AoE, 3 dice per single target.I just tried upcasting damage spells like healing spells. Works well.
I also add an extra die of damage (and healing) when cantrips scale for all spells that were available before that level.
At level 5, all level 1 and 2 spells gain an extra die of base damage.
