Level Up (A5E) Artisan Background

I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered but in the advancement portion of the Artisan, it says crafting an enchanted item grants you 8 free "commoner apprentices" I haven't really come across what this mechanically does if anything.

I'm sure I just something somewhere though. That's usually how I roll. Haha.

There may be a concrete answer in either Strongholds or in Downtime Activities, but I can't remember off-hand. You get the apprentices and they can do a lot of the work for you, making your job faster. At the least, they'd be able to give you the Help action. At best, I'd say that each one who is working on the project with you shaves a day off the time it takes to make it.
