I don't know - why would they? I suggested that the GM should probably follow the players lead, which the player sketched out in the OP and was seeking some feedback on.Why would the GM follow EnWorld's lead?
Whereas my recommendation would be to answer the question Does a game in which a half orc paladin of conquest seeks divinty by eating the hearts of coutatls, devas etc sound exciting?. Presumably the player thinks it is, or else it wouldn't have been suggested in the OP. So unless the GM is averse to it (which is an obvious possibility - it might push the boundaries of good taste for some tables, although presumably [MENTION=6889146]TheNoremac42[/MENTION] has some sense of where those boundaries lie for this particular table), why not run with it?Knowing more about the implied setting before deciding which path to take is the next step I'd recommend. If the DM tells him "I have no idea how one is supposed to achieve that in this setting", then they can work together to build a viable path.
