Let's get it back in character

Tahgor Ironcrest contacts you all the next day.

"I've sent word to Eveningstar that you will be escorting the good expatriates of Cormyr on their long journey to the Silver Marches. Specifically, they are traveling to the village of Newfort, near Sundabar. I am having maps sent, so that you may ponder the routes available to you.

"There is only one way to begin: traveling north to the Black Crater that was once Tilverton, then headed west across the Stonelands. Then there are two options: a safer route by roads and trails, via Waterdeep, which is twice as long; or a more dangerous route north along the verges of the Anauroch, which is twice as swift."

I believe our charges would be more interested in reaching their destination alive than reaching it dead. Maybe we should take the longer route. If it were just us then I would love the challenge of the more dangerous route.

Tahgor brings the Map

"Well," Tahgor says, "let's take a look at the map, shall we?"

Though it is only springtime, we will be hard-pressed to make it before first snow. If we go by way of Waterdeep (which lies off the left side of the map) we'll have to winter along the way and resume the journey next spring...nearly a year from now. But Darabrac has a very good point...if they don't make it at all, what's the point? Perhaps we should ask the settlers themselves...?

[NOTE: The above map is not meant to give you the details...just to point out that Cormyr is in the lower right-hand corner and the Silver Marches are in the upper left. You could go north along the left side of that big desert, or west along that system of roads and trails through the Western Heartlands. I will have more legible maps for the game session. -TC]

Into the Inn walks a tall, handsome man with wet blond hair, blue eyes, and a distinctive handlebar moustache that appears to be meticulously groomed. He wears a set of flashy, perhaps even gaudy, clothes usually reserved for entertainers. His deep blue cloak, leather gloves, and headband seem a motley makeup, but he wears them all strangely well. He walks in the taproom, shakes out his hair and cloak as a dog might, and gives the room a broad smile.

"Strewth! It's wetter than a she-dragon in heat out there! What's a gentleman have to do to get some nice hot tea in this city?"

OOC: Hey! It's Dave.. I'm back, baby! Hey, since you all got lots of XP, does this mean that Lucius might be able to go up a level in order to keep up with the party? Let me know ... See you Saturday!

Kaemris Tencoin: "Well met and welcome to the Fortunate Minotaur, friend! Are you with the traveling minstrels who arrived in town last week?" goes to the kitchen to pour tea for the visitor...
