[B.A.D.D.] Dragon Spell List Feedback

Certainly programmed image can go in the wizard only list. I tossed it in originally because it sounded cool, but obviously contingency is more useful. As far as the cleric list I would have to go with getting rid harm. In general it's going to have less "hit point effect" than a heal cast on the dragon, and greater dispelling is a must.

So contingency is the dragon's last pick in either case?

I note you have time stop and foresight on both the wizard and cleric lists. This seems an unnecessary duplication, so perhaps the clerical ones should be swapped out for other stuff, in order to expand the dragons' flexibility while not denying generated whites & blacks those spells.

Also, in regards to the contactees of the Commune and Miracle spells, how about Tiamat & Bahamut? While dragons probably wouldn't have gods per se, these beings could easily substitute.

[EDIT: clarified my first paragraph]

As an aspiring BADDass, let me tell you that Blur needs to be changed to Mirror Image. It protects from targeted spells also. Because so many people can see invisible, it's not redundant with Imp. Invis.

Also you need to include Divine Favor for cleric casters. At higher levels it's +5-+6 to hit and damage.

Yes. Here's the list that's been programmed into my generator:

0 - 'detect magic','resistance','detect poison','read magic','dancing lights','ghost sound','mage hand','open/close','mending'
1 - 'endure elements','mage armor','shield','true strike','charm person'
2 - 'bull\'s strength','cat\'s grace','blur','endurance','fog cloud'
3 - 'haste','dispel magic','protection from elements','slow'
4 - 'dimension door','improved invisibility','detect scrying','confusion'
5 - 'cloudkill','dominate person','summon monster V','teleport'
6 - 'greater dispelling','disintegrate','programmed image'
7 - 'spell turning','greater scrying','forcecage'
8 - 'mass charm','maze','protection from spells'
9 - 'foresight','time stop','dominate monster'

For cleric-casters (same as above except):
1 - 'endure elements','mage armor','cure light wounds','shield','true strike'
4 - 'spell immunity','dimension door','improved invisibility','detect scrying'
5 - 'cloudkill','righteous might','dominate person','teleport'
6 - 'heal','greater dispelling','harm'
7 - 'spell turning','destruction','greater scrying'
9 - 'miracle','foresight','time stop'

For the clerical, I would put in:
2- 'silence','cat\'s grace','blur','endurance','fog cloud'

Being able to silence a caster is probably more valuable than an additional +1 or 2 to damage and hit, especially with the already impressive strength of a normal dragon.

Well these would be my suggestions assume no use of non PHB spells.

Same 0 lvl list

1 - Enlarge, Expeditious Retreat, Unseen Servant, Protection from Evil, Shield

2 - Mirror Image, Blur, Shatter, Endurance, Cat's Grace, Bull's Strength

3 - haste,dispel magic,Displacement,slow

4 - dimensional anchor, improved invisibility, Fire Shield , Evard' Black Tentacles

5 - Dismissal, Bigby's Interposing Hand , Telekinesis , Feeblemind

6 - greater dispelling, Shades, Repulsion

7 - Banishment, Spell Turning, Plane Shift

8 - mass charm, screen, Iron Body

9 - Time Stop, Disjunction, Power Word Kill

Touch spells can be very, very nasty. I remember the dragon smackdown.

Imagine a dragon casting Shocking Grasp, Ghoul Touch, or whatnot, then innitiating a Snatch. Not only so, but what about breathing on the snatched victim, while in the air? If they're grappled, then they could have penalties to the ref save. Or, better yet, get them into the dragon's mouth. Then breathe, and drop as a free action.

Deeper Darkness is very important.

Polymorph simply is what dragons *Do*. To get little half-dragons, y'know?

I'd like to toss Pyrotechnics onto the list. This perhaps isn't best for a dragon in a fight in his Lair, but sneaking up on an encampment, pulling this bad boy on their fire, then decending to do the vicious attack?

Let us not forget about the Dispelling Screen. Pop this onto the door to your lair (And not the cave entrance that leads to your lair). All those protective spells are Zilch.

I've always cared for Mislead.

Y'know, I know it's cheating, but what about creating a spell or two? For instance, one that allows a dragon to change it's type of breath weapon (Combined with Change Self, this could be a really nasty surprise for a party). Or, one coined by Red and White dragons but, likely duplicated elsewhere: Converts damage of a certain energy into healing. For instance, every 5 damage becomes 1 point of healing.
