Women wear bikinis and low cut costumes at places like Gen Con and Renaissance Fairs to be noticed. If they pose for a picture in public I don't see what the big deal is? The purpose is to be noticed and titilate. Sorry, but if the pretzel-wench didn't want guys to think about excercising their knightly privelege with her at the Medieval Faire, she shouldn't be wearing a skirt that starts 5 inches below her belly button and a top that barely conceals her chest.

And I, for one, make no assumption about intelligence when I see a woman like that. From what I've seen, it's jealous women that oftimes assume the chainmail bikini gals are bimbos.

Curses. This, of course, is where you trot out your KILLER PUNCHLINE, "I'm not bald, it's a solar panel for a sex machine!" Right? Right.

Please keep both hands on the keyboard while posting...and don't tell me you have a secondary mouse... :)

That's true. Beautiful women get the most attention from men who want nothing more from them than to ogle at them as well as other things I won't mention on this board.

Intelligent, witty, charming women get the most attention from men who are looking for a companion, a soulmate or a best friend. Intelligent, witty and charming women get the best jobs, the most friends and the most respect from their fellow humans (except for above mentioned men who just want something to ogle at). Case in point, Oprah Winfrey, not a physically beautiful lady but the highest paid daytime tv star for how long? People like her. And I can think of at least a dozen average looking women who have happy relationships with men who adore them. These men might glance at the chainmail bikini girls because they look different (Heck, I'd look at the chainmail bikini girls because they look different) but who don't long to be with them over their wives or girlfriends.

Daughters catch on to this pretty fast.

Stopping here because I don't want to start any arguments.

Are you telling me that you see some tall, attractive (to you), well-dressed or well-built man and have no reaction? I don't believe this for a second. Women go just as giddy over attractive (to them) men who dress or are built well. Its not who they marry maybe, but they definitely look.

If this wasn't the case, there would be no such thing as boybands or male sex symbols. Do you really think men are hitting the gym because they want to feel more healthy? No, men are hitting the gym because more women are expecting them to hit the gym. You women like a good looking man as much as us men like a good looking women. You base your opinions on physical attributes just as much as us men, height being especially important.

Actually I usually make judgements about their intelligence based on the temperature. I’m happy to be scantily clad in warm weather, but how anyone could seriously contemplate wearing that little when the temperature is measured in single figures is beyond me!

Hey Mark, no teasing the single women with your sense of humour when you’re unavailable! :p

Hong on the other hand if the plastic surgery turns out okay … anytime you want me to dump Atticus for you let me know! Wait a minute: 2 statisticians together – no that could be very nasty.

BTW: If Atticus happens to venture into the light from the deep, dark trenches of NKL, I was never here, I never posted and this is all just a figment of your collective imaginations. Look at the pretty watch swinging back and forth, you are all getting sleepy, very sleepy ….

... I personally believe that men react to beautiful women from a genetic imperative rather than a trained response. ...

quite right. beauty is analogous to healthy. we find clear skin, shiny hair, bright eyes, white teeth, and firm musculature attractive, because those are all signs of a healthy partner and by direct association, someone capable of providing healthy children.

now of course, very few people if anyone at all, actually thinks this way consciously anymore, but it's still the subconscious/genetic thought process that determines attractiveness.

trying to say that one should not find attractive people ... well, attractive, is ridiculous. ALL humans are designed this way. ... well the ones with all their wires connected, anyway.

... I also like having a forum where intelligent and mature discourse occurs on a wide variety of topics of specific interest to the gaming community.

... If I want to look at pretty women, I'll do that somewhere appropriate ...

so is a discussion on the merits of viewing photos of attarctive women not part of this "wide variety of topics"? and before anyone runs to the ogling argument, ArthurQ never said: "i'm gonna start an album so we can all ogle in the same place!" the whole ogling argument was started by people who made assumptions that everyone does that.

and what's inappropriate about looking at pretty women in a role playing forum? don't tell me that pretty women aren't a huge part of gaming since gaming was gaming! unless i miss my guess, roleplaying was aimed at adolescent and teenage boys. what do you think they think about?

besides, if someone ogles someone else, how is that any business of yours or mine? see to your own motivations and desires and those of the people who you have direct influence over (read children). does anyone really think that ranting about it here will change the mind of any ogler?

in any event, both men ad women react to good looking people in the same way. they treat them better. it's true. and the few people who don't usually have some deeper hidden reason for doing so. are beautiful people at an advantage? absolutely! is it unfair? probably. but when you think about it, how much of life is fair? none of it, really. life just is.
