As kind of a running joke, some friends and I had often planned a 'bad sequels' film-festival. One of them has a birthday coming up, and suggested we actually do it. The first two films are set -- Highlander 2: The Quickening, and Speed 2. We've not decided on the third (and maybe fourth) film to show. I'm looking for suggestions that meet the following criteria:
* the first film had to be pretty good
* it has to be an immediate sequel (which eliminates Jaws 4, for example)
* it has to have been a relatively big-budget theatrical release (eliminating, say, Starship Troopers 2)
* it has to be very, very bad. Pretty much no redeeming value whatsoever (redeeming value could be a really cool fight seen (eliminating Matrix Reloaded) or gratuitous nudity (eliminating Species 2))
Basically, we're looking for movies where the studio had a built-in audience, and whatever resources they needed, and screwed the pooch so badly that they deserve to be mocked for all time.
