Bad Sequel film-fest

Day of the Dead. It's practically unwatchable, though. Not even funny-bad. Just plain bad.

I hear they're doing a remake of it...I wonder if it will be as good as the Dawn of the Dead remake?

Caddyshack 2.

The original Caddyshack is a classic. The sequel was so forgettable that a lot of people don't even know that a Caddyshack 2 was ever made.

To each their own, I guess. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Edit: it's also not a direct sequel, but the 3rd in the series. I'm not aware of a remake, though there is a 4th movie - Land of the Dead - on the way. There is a remake of Evil Dead in development, which might also be what you're thinking of.

Candidates:

Resident Evil 2 has the inevitable Milla nudity right at the end, but is otherwise pretty darn bad.

Predator 2 has to be a contender.

Major League 2 is pretty dire, as well.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is a bad follow up to a so-bad-its good original.

Exorcist II: The Heretic may be the worst sequel ever. Yes, worse than Highlander!

Resident Evil: Apocalypse I think will be excluded via the nudity clause, since Milla gets her gear off, again.

Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows is another rival to Exorcist II and Highlander 2 for worst franchise gutting sequel ever created. I've expunged it from my memory so totally that I can't remember if the nudity clause will save it.

I actually liked Predator 2 better than the first one. Maybe it's the whole "Danny Glover can actually act" thing. :)

Although any movie with two future governors in it can't be all bad.

Dumb & Dumberer: Dumb & Dumber was one of the funniest movies of the 1990s, the sequel was sorely lacking the comedy genius of the Farrley brothers.

Mortal Kombat Annihilation: This movie has already been mentioned several times so far in this thread, so I don't need to go over the reasons.

Highlander 2: This is the first movie that pops into many people's minds when the phrase "bad sequel" is spoken. Highlander 2 stands out as quite possibly the most spectuaclarly bad sequel of all time (although I've never seen Exorcist 2).

The first time I saw this movie and got to this scene, I thought, "You scientists forgot to enhance something!"

Does Electra count as a sequel to Daredevil?

And I agree with everyone else, there were no Highlander sequels.

Airplane II was a nearly identical copy of the original movie, except it's in space. Not sure how that ranks.

But I must say, I don't think any of these movies are bad, compared to Mulan II.
