Both Cavill's supposed love of the books and sexism seem to be exaggerations of the same grains of truth. For example, the female showrunner the show did say Cavill often had lore points to add in and little things to suggest, but that Cavill was extremely polite and never pushy about them (she was specific). Different groups exaggerated different parts of these truths, to try and make Cavill into either a sort of Incel-Hero figure, fighting the brave fight of being a misogynist ultra-nerd, or Cavill into a sort of Incel-Villain who hates women and obsessively attempted to push lore. And this whole "Oh he quite because he is a PURE TRUE NERD and couldn't stand what they are doing!" seems like pure fantasy to me. I'm pretty sure he quit because they cast him in a new Superman movie (which then fell through).

Somehow I don't think a dude who looks like that and has the GFs he does is really on the side of the incels nor is a guy who did three series of The Witcher going to quit for the fourth just because of "lore problems".

The dude is just a legit lore nerd from various interviews, who would fall on the 'canon does matter' side of things from what I've seen.

Painting him as a misogynist (not saying you are) is a pretty good attempt at a character assassination.

He's a lore nerd, but he's not an idiot, or a fanatic. He's not going to quit a job over "lore issues", especially as by all accounts, they listened to him on the lore issues. But he would be an idiot not to sign on for a Superman movie, I suspect, because he was probably going to be paid double-digit millions for that. And we know he did sign on to such - it just fell through when the DCU's priorities changed after repeated failures and hiring Gunn to right the ship.

The dubious claim is that he quit not because he was signing on to Superman, but because he was "mad about lore issues". It's not plausible. It doesn't pass the sniff test unless you're also extremely high on copium, imho.

It's not particularly legit. It's just one of those bits of scuttlebutt that originates with a claim on reddit or 4Chan, because they like to make up "facts" which suit their own biases, and know that they can be mysterious enough to pretend have insider knowledge. Also 4Chan will definitely amplify that kind of thing, and about 1 in 100 4Chan "leaks" is real, but confirmation bias makes people think it's more like 50%.

I'd love this. I'd love it even more on Apple, given how they are handling Foundation......but even 1-2 years of this would be good! I get we want it all....but getting some is better than not getting any, IMO, of course.

As others, I haven't been exactly enthused with Netflix' live action series recently. It's a shame they don't go for animation - Castlevania, especially the seasons 1 and 2, was pretty compelling; and Edgerunners was at least decent.

I do love Castlevania! I am just starting season 4 while I ride the stationary bike....

It'd be interesting to see how a series like this could be structured, without having to focus in on the main protagonists 100% of the time. Like, you could have a Harpers arc back in the city with Jaheira and Minsc starting to investigate Absolute cultist infiltration, and Duke Ravengard and the Flaming Fist setting out to investigate in the wilds, you could give the villains more of an arc, maybe have Wyll chasing Karlach being a completely separate thread from the rest of the main cast for half a season.

They don't have the budget to do this live action and not look lame. The cost would blow One Piece's budget out of the water, and it was clear that they were skimping in many places on that. They DO have the budget to do this animated, and, good news, it's already cast!

Their animation has been pretty top notch lately. Blue Eye Samurai was visually gorgeous and an amazing story, Castlevania has been very good, and Cuphead holds a dear place in my heart, to name some recent offerings.

I will be really glad when we as a people grow out of this phase where we try to live action what ought to be animated.
