D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 will now be releasing August 3rd on PC and September 6th on PS5, increased level cap, race & class details and more

What's funny is I think I scared Gale off by coming on too strong. I went into the Weave scene fully expecting to have some fun and smooches, and it didn't happen. Everyone else, I've been friendly but not getting a romantic vibe, though Lae'zel gave me a talking to at the party about how I wasn't worth her awesome bod, and Gale wanted to be left to brood during the party.

Yeah if you treat him even like a human being, he's going to be in love with you in a very one-sided way lol.
I am reminded of the paladin in NWN2. I disliked him and tried to avoid him as much as possible, and yet the game at various points assumed I was in a romantic relationship with him!

(IIRC there was even a point where the game made me choose between him and the equally broody rogue, when I hadn’t been in a relationship with either of them at any point during the game. Ugh.)

I was wondering what was wrong with Gale since I ran with a female character, but I hit on Gale first. Now I almost want to create another female character and ignore him to see what happens.
I rejected his advances as Karlach. Disappointed there wasn't a "punch him in the face" option, but after a whiny "if you should ever change your mind..." I haven't heard anything since.

No spoilers but Lae'zel is very annoying to start with, but can really go on a fascinating journey, depending on what happens.
My friend expressed surprise that Lae'zel never left my party. 'she's so condescending and aggro' I KNOW SHE'S GREAT RIGHT

Given the opportunity in games, I always try to form my party of people who will bitch at each other. Admittedly, this was easier in BG1/2, and was the one benefit of dragging 5 NPCs around.

Look, I'm there for the drama.

I do really question Larian tying a lot of companion/plot progression to long rests, when there often is no need to take them that often (and you're also under narrative time limits), and then only activating one scene at a time. You can (and should!) clear the event queue by repeatedly partial resting (which costs no resources), but it's weird that you have to.

Partial resting itself is a really weird mechanic to have in the game, because the only ones who end up needing it are the short rest-reliant classes (because the only thing it doesn't do is refresh short rest uses), not the regular full casters who get their slots back with partial rests just fine. It's not like it's even needed, because there's so many supplies around.

Seriously 90% of the actually-bad bugs (i.e. ones that mess with quests/progressions/romances) and weirdnesses in the game that I've encountered have been because of this bad decision. They said that they'd changed it - like literally said this, in the last Panel from Hell - so that multiple events could trigger per rest, but, that doesn't seem to be true, or rather, at most it's two, and one is a "before bed" and one an "once you go to bed" event.

It's particularly bad because there's equally a number of quests you can FAIL by doing too many Long Rest, none of which is tagged as such or otherwise separated from the "urgent seeming but not actually on a timer" quests.

I feel like the amount of stuff a Definitive Edition could/should add is kind of piling up.

On the one hand, I get the desire to have a specific, predefined area where romance/character development/personal quest type of events happen. It was weird in Baldur's Gate 2 where you're exploring a pocket plane full of monsters when Aerie suddenly turns to you and starts talking about your relationship while harp music starts playing. By tying these events to rests, they made sure they will happen in an appropriate setting. Actually, I think this'll be one of the things I'll take to my tabletop games from BG3: I'll definitely pay more attention to the kind of social interaction and roleplaying that could happen in camp.

However, missing some events because they all trigger to the same evening and only one of them happens is really annoying. I really hope they fix that in Patch 1 (or ASAP).
