Batman Begins Teaser/Trailer/Preview

That's funny. I could of sworn I said, "Jack Kelly instead of John Preston". Comparing Bale's cheesy performance in Newsies with his intimidating prescence in Equilibrium. Weird.

As for his ninja training, I actually like that quite a bit as it fits. Using all manner of tools in his work. Fighting via stealth and distraction. Gathering information via stealth and via disguise as appropriate. All fit pretty well. And it makes more sense than samurai training resulting in ninja applications.

But shinobi have been treated so poorly in so many places that hearing the phrase "They made Batman a ninja!" is bound to inspire shivers of disgust until it is thought about or seen on the screen well done.

The preview gave me hope for something better than an utter failure, but I still have low expectations over all.

Only in the heartlands of white America. I'm guessing they don't want their superhero to have foreign training, even though it is essential for Batman. They probably want him to learn the trade secret from former catburglars and Army Rangers.

Or perhaps learn the American ninja style, like Dux-Ryu (founded by Frank Dux).

Indeed.

Even in Batman: The Animated Series, Bruce Wayne learns martial arts from a sensei in Japan while running afoul of a fellow student, resulting in a ninja enemy for Batman.

Well like I said, the fact that they are using that in this movie is one of the things that makes me hold out hope for it. You'll have to go to the Ulrick's and the Hand's of Evil to find out why not a ninja. Though I doubt it's the, we don't want Bats foreign trained. Every incarnation of Bats is foreign trained. At least that I know of.

Well hot damn, as a white guy living in an unelightened non-coastal state, I didn't realize that I was required to disdain anything and everything foreign. Yeah, ninja-Batman sucks!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go out and repair my tractor so I can drive it to tonight's book-burning. :p

Aw. Your pretty cousin said no to your movie date? Maybe you need a mullet makeover. :p

Anyhoo...

Pretty interesting that Liam Neeson is in some kind of robe wielding a sword (blade made of steel this time around), training an apprentice. ;)

I have my theories about Neeson, but I'll wait until I see the movie before spilling them.
Are they the same as mine:
He's really Ra's Al Ghul and Watannabe's character is either a bodyguard or the Sensei?

Precisely:
Neeson is Ra's and Watanabe is Ubu.
