interesting, but without seeing other giants, is not this jumping the gun slightly?
Not really relevant. The OP can post up whatever monsters he wants to make and name them whatever he'd like. We can either take them, or throw them out. That's the fun of exclusivity.

I like it, and as for jumping the gun.....might as well the gun is at least a couple months away and everything we have might have changed by then :) Work with what we got even if everything we have ends up totally wrong.......yup thats standard operation for me and mine.

I guess 'jumping the gun' was less what I had in mind, more of "Does not that damage output seem really high compared to other monster of similar level?"

Even for an elite, it looks like it will strip HP like a 3rd edition giant.

Noted, & fixed.

Now the real test-- get 12 1st level PCs and see if they can bring it down...

Hey there! :)

Its hit points should be 218.

Also doesn't the Greataxe multiply strength bonus x4 on a crit? So that would be 2d10+36 on a crit.

That looks pretty cool. i thinks it's ac is a little low for a Soldier (who are supposed to be hard to hit) so i'd change him to a brute as he's a high damage tough monster.

On the how it would do against 12 level ones. I'd say he drops some one every round but the first so it take 13 rounds for him to kill them. I'd say they stand a chance of winning if they have healing and such, so he seems balanced right to me. Good work sir.

Greataxe doesn't multiply Str damage on a crit, it just happened to be exactly that on the one example we had. The more likely thing is that it does max damage on crit (as normal) plus an additional die of damage.

It looks good. I would however question whether Giant Cleave should be a small m attack, and therefore eligible for opportunity attacks, or a big M attack.

But I like what you've done here so far.
