Being bored sucks.

Call it ennui, so it sounds sophisticated.

Yes, it sucks. I'm rather ill at the moment, and have spent most of the day lazing in my bed. I hate being sick.

I find that I am rarely ever bored. Although sometimes, despite always having numerous things "on my plate", I do manage to get "bored" from time to time. I think it's more of a state of not wanting to do anything, versus not actually having anything to do. I'm not sure which causes this phenomenon, though it is an mystery.

I tend to fill up my life with so much stuff, that I usually feel anxious about trying to get it all done, most of the time. Although, I don't know whether that is an improvement on the situation.

My wife and daughter flew back to Kansas City yesterday, so for a little over a week, I've got the place to myself. But rather than being bored, I intend to use it wisely. Why, today I managed to get really, really far in Tony Hawk Pro Skate 4! :)

But I did work on some music last night. I printed out a couple of ensemble pieces. I play clarinet in a community band, so I'll see if I can get some others to play them with me at our annual concert. And I'm working on a module for a game day, so I'll be working on that a lot next week. And I've been cleaning house off and on, and have made quite a bit of progress on that.

So, lot's to do. Now the dog is looking at me to go outside, so that's another thing I need to do...

Likewise. I honestly think I have too many hobbies. At any given time, I can paint minis, play video games, practice guitar, teach myself Photoshop, work on various campaigns, draw maps, go running, work on my website, write some reviews, read a book, etc. The list goes on. Today I spent most of my day working on an ettin mini which is coming out really nice if I do say so myself.

But there are definitely times when I just want to lounge around and watch TV. Sometimes undertaking a project is more difficult than the project itself.

I know how you feel. Spring Break just started for and and I am now bored because I have no homework to do. I have books I can read, or video games I can play, but I cant even really bring myself to do anything. And everything just seems so subdued at my house right now.

I put myself where I am. Yes, being bored sucks. I used to think that working sucked. There are many benefits to working, social interation being the thing that keeps one sane. I used to think that gaming would make me happy for as long as my natural life.

Generally, I find my lack of new stimuli to be my source of boredom. And when I do get new stimuli, it is pops and then fizzles. I think I'm more depressed then bored lately.

Belly Shots might help.

Then again, it's been 12 years since my last Spring Break. Maybe you kids do it different these days.

But God I hope not.

As I recall I didn't wait for Spring Break to do that... I was lucky if I waited for the weekend. But not everyone is a lush in college. ;)
