Beneath the Waves

Michael Morris

First Post
Wrote this this morning...

Long days I've seen
Softly drifting away into
Sad days I've seen
Quickly maddening all into
Why come to me?
All pain the world's turning into
Through tears now I see
All that I've loved
Slipping beneath the waves.

So suddenly..
All cares suddenly turn into
Panick and fear
Heartbreak arising now with the flood
How can there be
Any such god that would do such a thing
For now I see
All that I know
Drifting beneath the waves.

Can you hear them? the waves
Of sadness - cacophony
Lifting the pace
Of dark ceremonies
Remember the love
That's taken away
Beneath the waves
Beneath the waves..
Beneath the waves...

I stand alone
Upon a hill, gazing down into the
Fields far below
Locked with my fear
As waves rise up from below
All that I've loved
Now sinking away
Turbulently torn
Memories fade
And nothing remains
That is not beneath the waves

Can you see them? the waves
Left nought behind but
Misery
And pain unbound
Remember the lives
Now taken away
Beneath the waves
Beneath the waves..
Beneath the waves...
Beneath the waves..
Beneath...

I've been trying to think of something of this nature since the tsunami struck in Dec. Can't really write a happy song about that.

Then don't. I know that must be obvious, but unhappy emotions are still emotions and poetry is the best tool for communicating those emotions. Just because something is unhappy or morose, does not mean it is bad or unwelcome.

I liked the piece, myself.
