Besides fantasy, what genre would you like to roleplay in?

How about an alternate history colonial America with baroque-era science fiction and witchcraft? ;)

But seriously...

Just this morning, I was thinking how cool it would be to do a police procedural RPG, something like Homicide: Life on the Street or Law and Order. You know, a game where a PC might only use their gun once in an entire campaign, and it would be a huge event.

Also:
1930s pulp adventure with fantastic/sf elements (Indiana Jones, Doc Savage)
fantasy/sf film noir (Dark City)
cinematic WWII commando (Dirty Dozen, Guns of Navaronne, Where Eagles Dare)

I like the occasional wild west game (Boothill), but don't get to play nearly enough.

I would love to play a wild west type game. I'm kind of interested in Kenzer's Aces & Eights. I think that's what it's called.

My second favorite genre after Fantasy would be a post aplocalyptic setting, ala Gamma World, Fallout, Wasteland.

Super Hero Genre: With a wealth of comic background, I tend to enjoy the supers style of playing.

Modern + X: Generally modern games need a hook to get me interested. World of Darkness has a hook. Something that makes it possible to play in the modern world long term.

Star Wars: Thumbs up.

Burning Empire: Big Thumbs up. Just have to get a group together for it.

Warhammer 40K: Man, I've been waiting for this for years.

High action extremely futuristic space game. Star Wars Saga edition might fill in, though it's not exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm also very stoked for Warhammer 40.000 Roleplay, which will hopefully have the quality of Warhammer fantasy roleplay (which I only don't play because it's so ingrained with the old world setting).

Pulp/Crimson Skies/Skycaptain
Barsoom
Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers/Pulpy kind of thing

I'd also like to play in a solid Classic Traveller game

Four-color Superheroes; capes, masks, codenames, kid sidekicks, hidden lairs, the government falling all over itself to thank you for rescuing them from the Insect Overlords of Antares rather than having a file on how to kill all of you should you become a problem, etc. If there is something I like better than fantasy, that would be it. If fact, give me that and I might not ever play a fantasy genre game save as a diversion.

After that, Victorian Horror, Modern Horror, and post-apocalyptic Horror.
After that, hard-SF space exploration with a few touches of space opera.

1. Mecha Conspiracy
2. Sword and Sorcery (as distinct from high fantasy)
3. Sword and Planet
4. Steampunk
5. Pulp Action
6. Modern Action
7. Modern/urban Dark Fantasy
8. Hard Sci-Fi Action
9. Mecha Military
10. Cosmic/Lovecraftian Horror

- Firefly done in Unisystem - I've not heard good things about the Serenity RPG.
- I think I'd give a limb to get to *play* in an ongoing Buffy game.
- Exalted. Does it still count as fantasy if it has robots, lasers, and magical nukes?
- Pulp Adventure sounds fun.
- WW2
- Cowboys

Pets & Sidekicks
