Better than the Orb spells

looks like a solid spell to me. Oh and reading the text, it might really be unicorns that rush at the target, but only the unicorns horn does damage. I dont think the flavor text is wrong. It seems to be a volly so only 1 sneak attack for one of the charging unicorns.

like the spell hated the fluff,
I renamed it Impale and explained it as the conjuration of spears tipped with force and hurtled at great speed. (still arguable with SR I know)
it as a spell specifcally designed to slay demons and other outer planner creatures. The 17th wizard in the party uses it occasionally, and has twice crittically fumbled with it (causing all shots in the volley to miss, but without further ill effects.
the multiple attack rolls do make it more chancy than the single shot orb - chances are some of the shots will miss even vs touch AC
caps at 5d8+40 damage (77% chance of missing with at least one)
actually this breaks the damage cap for 3rd level spells which is 10d6 for single or multiple targets - so perhaps it should be a 4th level spell - besides who faces SR at 5th level?

Your quote only applies to creatures and objects. The arrow is neither. It's a spell effect.

Based off the fact that this is a Conjuration spell, I believe the effect is an object (or possibly a creature). Change the school to Evocation, and I'm with you 100%.

I nix the orb spells anyway, so this one is gone. Maybe if a player really wanted it, I'd change it to an evocation and have SR apply, but it's not going in as written, that's for certain.

Another change I might use is to type it as PEIRCING damage specifically, and have it so that instead of SR applying, DR applies...

You know, that might actually be a good balance for most of the damage dealing conjuration spells. Just make DR apply to it. Since there's no SR, why not DR?

How about Teleport, is that an object or a creature?

But yeah, I know that the Conjuration school is a little weird now. ;)

Well, maybe I should clarify that I'm assuming the subschool of this spell is Calling, Creation, or Summoning (as I pointed out before, all Conjuration spells have a subschool, we just don't know which in this case).

If you want to play devil's advocate on this one, I can point out that if this happens to be in the Teleportation subschool, the unicorn would have to be a creature or object. That would also mean that the unicorn would remain after the spell, and could be blocked by anything that blocks the Astral plane.

Ah, heck, let's just assign this spell to the Healing subschool (which lets the unicorn be a spell effect, I suppose) and be done with it. :)
