What's the thing in this attachment? It's some sort of deep sea life, but the site I nabbed it off of didn't have captions on a lot of the pictures. Anyone know?

It's freakish if you ask me. It looks like something out of Metroid Prime...

I can't find anything on the internet, but I'll continue looking. I'm curious.

I don't recall what it is called but I saw it on the Discover Channel. Basically it lives deep, like mile or so down in the bottom sand of the ocean. THe show was on a submersible exploring the bottom of the ocean and finding all sorts of new types opf creatures.

I can't find any 12 legged creature outside of centipedes. Sorry. Freakish, I tell you, freakish...

One of the tricks that arthropods use - those aren't necessarily all "legs" in the usual sense. Catepillars, for example, are insects, and really only have six true legs. The sea critters have appendages which have their gills on one branch, and the other branch can be modified into whateverthe species needs.

Life is weird :)

It's an isopod. You know pillbugs, right? Rolly-pollies? They're the same type of creature, just much larger and aquatic. They are crustaceans, like crabs, lobsters and shrimp.

Demiurge out.

I've heard them described as a wood louse writ large. One of the souvenirs you can pick up on a (very) deep sea expedition. Seems there's a lot more going on down on the ocean floor than we thought.
