Book of Familiars (TLG Special Offer)

Move to Nigeria and use the ex-minister's held bank account. :D

Nah, apparently the farmer's cooperative just over the border in Zimbabawe has a few million dollars they are trying to avoid declaring. It is much easier to go to Zimbabwe (around a six hour drive), than to fly to Nigeria!

(Gotta love these scams, get people to agree to doing something illegal that when you rip them off they can't complain to the police. Personally I think it takes a minimum level of stupidity to believe that anyone is going to give you millions of dollars just for using your bank account. So, stupidity, greed and preparadness to do something illegal - a lethal combination!)

Thanks Steve

I saw on my bank statement that the transaction is awaiting authorisation (gotta love them banl clearances), so everything looks great. I am definitely looking forward to receiving the books.

Cheers

Just making sure as many people as possible see these great deals!

Plus I want to know if Steve survived seeing how much shipping to Africa is.

Heh, well if it gets sent surface mail - it shouldn't be more than $10 (definitely must kill their profit on the sale).

I would have liked to purchase more, but exchange rates are a killer (and so is my wife when she sees me buying things from overseas, she just doesn't get the RPGers mentality - a typical comment is usually - "But what do you need another book for, you already have a bookshelf full!" - and this after being married to me for seven years. You'd have thought that the three bookshelves worth of books and RPG accessories would have tipped her off when were going out, and when we got married and moved into our first, small flat I sold off much of my stuff, mainly games that I hadn't played or hadn't looked at in the last ten years. I mean really, how many people out there ever played Dominion or Powers and Perils?)

I've been a gamer for nearly 20 years and I don't recall even seeing those games. Maybe they are primarily european?

Well, that is why I mentioned them. There was a stage when I bought anything and everything, whether or not it looked playable or if I ever opened it again after reading the rules. And I have been RPing since around 1980, so remember some really strange ones (remember the one with Nuns with Guns?)

P&P was really trying to climb onto the RP bandwagin. Highly complex rules, with very little games balance (with sufficient luck, at start you could be a twelth level extra-planar Elf (alfar) while everyone else was just natural first level characters). Dominion was around a 150 page A5 book. They advertised there would be supplements, but I never saw any. Even at the time (both of these are mid-eighties games), neither of these games were distinctive or generated much attention. They died ignoble and well deserved deaths!

I do remember seeing a lot of "strange" looking games on the shelves, but i never bought them unless someone else was already playing them. Like Aftermath and Paranoia.

I hope Steve is OK. Do you think the shipping price killed him?

I hope you played Paranoia. As a breaker in along campaign when a quick change was needed - nothing beat Paranoia. Wild, wacky, treacherous fun. I held our group record - I survived four paranoia adventurers without running out of clones! (I even had managed to get security clearance up to Blue before a commie, computer hating mutant lied to your friend and mine, the computer, and had me terminated!)

Hopefully silence is just indicative of a good con in Carbondale Ill.

Yes, I played Paranoia and am eagerly awaiting its new release in Aug/Sept.

I forgot he had the Con to attend. Hope its a great success. :)
