I will. It'll serve the dual purpose of clearing me a lot of personal space in the rush hour bus, and fleshing out the Chaos cults in my campaign.

With MMII out and D20 Modern coming out soon (on my B-day, buy it for me! You know you want to.), and the fact that I'm saving up for an upgrade for my PC, I don't know if I can fit it into my budget.
If it suits my purposes, and I have the money I'll buy it. Simple.

I was tempted to buy it originally but the promotional pages (i.e. articles) in Dragon have convinced me that it really is going to be a book of VILE darkness. The kind of vileness my friends and I can do without . . .

If it's as 'vile' as the promos seem to suggest then I believe such a product should have been left for games like the White Wolf stuff. D&Ders are a different breed. If the market has shrunk such that WotC believes they need an infusion of new customers, bringing over the White Wolf gang will not save them. If you cater to their type you exclude most traditional D&Ders, and will lose all your old customers as you gain the new ones. Pretty much like what 3E is doing so far anyway. WotC should re-examine their tactics and change strategies. Their current direction will lead them nowhere but the chopping block.

Do you have the extensive market analysis and sales figures of WotC to substantiate this speculation?

Depends if it's good or not. I'm thinking no since my group digs more on mid-to-high-fantasy as opposed to dark. Maybe though, since it IS Monte and his stuff is always top-notch. I'll have to see what kind of reviews it gets from non-biased readers.

All in all, there are other things i'd probably rather get, like CoC, more minis, etc.

The market has not shrunk with the introduction of 3E; what makes you think so? It has actually grown, and grown a lot. As for the BoVD, I can't see people stop playing D&D because of it.
