Books I need?

jdrakeh

Front Range Warlock
Okay, I'm trying to round out my D&D 3.5 collection. . . currently I own:

PHB 3.5 (x3)
DMG 3.5
DMG II
MM 3.5

Arcana Unearthed
Rules Compendium
Spell Compendium

Heroes of Horror
Libris Mortis
Lords of Madness

I'm looking at getting the Ravenloft and Greyhawk Expedition modules, as well as PHB II. Are there any other WotC (and I really can't stress that enough -- I already have the 3rd party stuff worth getting) products that qualify as 'must have' items?

I think that Bo9S and the Draconomicon are in the used/discount items bin at the FLGS, in very good condition -- so those might be options. I figure that if I use the Spell Compendium for casters, Bo9S might be a fair option for fighters.

After 4E was announced, and having taken a long break from 3ed, I've actually started to work on my own 3.75 ruleset. I've found the following books pretty useful:

Unearthed Arcana - a must for any tweaker/house-ruler
the Complete books - definitely peaks and valleys throughout but I've found more good than bad
the "Races of" books - I don't care the races so much but I really like the racial substitution levels throughout
PHB II - definitely some good class options in here

Well, to the books you originally listed,

Book of Vile Darkness (as a DM only book)
Dragonomicon
Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss
Stormwrack

I might also add Complete Warrior, Complete Arcane, and Sandstorm.

Btw, you listed Arcana Unearthed which is not WOTC. Did you mean Unearthed Arcana? If not, Unearthed Arcana is a definite.

Hm. PHB 2 is a must. an absolute MUST.

Book of Nine Swords is pretty cool, and worth checking out. Big problem with it, though, is it seems to change a lot of other D&D stuff.

Complete Mage + Complete Arcane are great.

The Psionics book is an interesting read. I don't have it, because I generally dislike psionics, but when I read the book, it was pretty cool.

Frostburn is also pretty cool. I LOVE that book!
