Boycott VH1

VH1 has hardly any music programming nowadays. I say if you're going to be a music channel at least half of all programming should be music related, with at least a quarter of that being music videos. What used to be a good channel for older music videos and things like metal, hard rock, and old skool/hardcore rap from the 80s and early 90s has been taken over by unwatchable shows like Hogan Knows Best and The Surreal Life. They also show a lot of movies like Showgirls and The Breakfast Club that have nothing to do with music. Put on something like This Is Spinal Tap, Heavy Metal, CB4, Rocky Horror Picture Show, a documentary about music, something, anything, that has the first thing to do with music! The absolute worst is all the countdowns. Who really cares what Hal Sparks or the skinniest fat guy in the Barenaked Ladies thinks of the Godfather movies?
I say a boycott is in order!
What prompted me to do this is one of their uber lame countdowns yesterday. VH1 spent at least 2 hours doing a countdown on the hundred best toys. Green Army Men weren't even in the top 50. Weeble Wobbles beating out one of the best toys for little kids is ludicrous. All the decisions so far have been awful(Nintendo over Teddy Bears?!?!) and they could have been doing something worthwhile like SHOWING SOME MUSIC RELATED PROGRAMS!!!
Its been so fashionable to rip MTV a new one over the exact same issues. I say VH1 is even worse.

Okay. I'll keep boycotting them.

Actually, if I ever get a TiVo, I think I'll set it to record the actual video blocks that come on at 3 in the morning.

By whom? I know of know one that watches it or MTV for that matter.

MTV and the likes stopped being music tv stations about 6 years ago. Since then they are nothing more than paparazzi-voyeuristic celeb soap programs.

p.s.:Not to forget that they are the premier place to buy ring tones :D

I stoped watching MTV about 8 years ago (when they started having more other shows then music). VH1 recently has started doing the same thing (but at least some of those showes do interest me). MTV2 is ok, at least it trys to play music video programs over half the time (it is now the home to the limp version of Headbangers Ball). CMT is also making the shift over to playing other things (movies, documentries, etc), so while I am not a big country fan, it at least has music more often then not.

MTV and VH1 don't show music anymore because it doesn't make financial sense to do so--it doesn't attract viewers & ad $$. I can't explain why.

Personally I never watched either much, even in MTV's heyday in the 80s.

VH1 is still around?
That's what I was thinking. I havent even stopped on either this channel or MTV for the past ... something years. And ever since the internet became a household tool, I have gotten to see whatever video I wanted- without wait and over and over again
