Break of Dawn [Manzanita judging] COMPLETED

Quarion Holimion, Elven Druid

Shortly before they entered town, Quarion bids Garma farewell. Though Garma is more intelligent than other wolves, he is still... a wolf. And commoners are rightfully afraid of him. Quarion rubs Garma behind the ears and tells the wolf that he'll be called in the morning. Garma bounds off into the woods.

As the party approaches, Quarion says, "Let it be noted that we arrived at Dawn... at dusk." He looks at whoever's sitting next to him. "That sounds foreboding."

While Aletheia speaks with the children, Quarion ponders what their reactions would be to Garma. Would they think the wolf interesting, dangerous? Or would they be apathetic, as human children so often are? And what would Garma think of the children? He is a fierce beast, but like Quarion, he has a soft side for young creatures. The elf hangs back, allowing Aletheia to question the children, though silently thinking that nothing valuable will come of her interrogation.

When the others suggest finding the inn, Quarion says, "I will accompany you to the inn, for the gathering of information. But when it is time for rest, I prefer the wilds."

"Listen, I'm a healer, and I've come here to help and to look for something. Is there anyone here in town who could use a healer's touch, anyone who is sick or in need of aid?" Aletheia persists, continuing on in gentle friendly tones, "Well, that's a mighty impressive inn you and your father have. Do you get travelers often then?"

While Aletheia continues with the children, Mordik will go to the inn.

(OOC: Eh, she doesn't quite expect answers either, but she wants to befriend the children. It's a good first step of Diplomacy to ensure a good reception in town, and although this little guy seems to be a killjoy, usually it's easier with kids than with adults...She's worried that this might be the kind of village that scrupulously protects the secret of their shrine and hates outsiders )

Inside the Rising Sun.

(ooc: RA: in that case i won't flesh out the conversation too much. Bottom line is that the children react friendly towards you. They don't get much travelers so the kid is happy on his father's behalf for the extra business you guys bring to the inn. His grandma has been a bit ill lately but she claims that she'll shrug it off as she always does.)
You enter the inn (named The Rising Sun) and find yourself (not unexpectingly) in the commonroom. There is a large fireplace on the opposite of a bar. There is no fire yet. The large bar stretches along the better part of one side of the inn. There are a number of small tables with chairs, a small stage and a flight of stairs that lead up. Aside from the stairs, there are two other exits in the room: two doors behind the bar.
There are two people sitting at a table, talking. They stop thier conversation as you enter the place and measure you up as they silently continue thier drinks. The boy from outside almost knocks you over as he runs from outside to one of the doors behind the bar "Pa! we've got guests. From outside!" He hollers in a bright and excited voice.

(OOC: Just the two in the whole room?)

*Aletheia looks the men over to see if she can learn anything about them before she begins to speak--first impressions are crucial, and so she should make a good one.*

(OOC: Do they look like Farmers? Merchants? Lumberjacks? Can she tell?)

RA: yes, only two. Appearently people around this town have better things to do at this time of day. They look the outdoorsy type, although you're not sure which type.

"A fine day my friends, don't you think?" Aletheia asks the two men, moving to sit next to them as she gives her best smile, well aware of the effects of a beautiful woman even when they aren't amplified by the effects of alcohol, "You have a beautiful town here. <Insert kid's name here> told me all about it," she smiles again, turning to direct the smile straight at whichever of the men seems most interested/friendly, "Can I buy you a drink?"

At first they look suspicously at Aletheia, but as she approaches the men so amically they smile in a more.. inapropiate way "Well there little lady, seems the day gets finer by the second. Why don't come sit here with us. And you surely should be the one getting the drinks" With that said he kicks the other, much younger, person at the table "Zack, get on your lazy feet and get this lovely lady a drink. And bring me another one too while yer at it." When the other person, appearently Zack, stumbles on his feet and towards the bar he turns his attantion back to Aletheia "Now then, what's it that brings a lovely litle thing like yerself to this town?" Then he usddenly seems to realise something and quickly asks "That's not yer husbund over there is it?"
