ooc: It was 66.5 with the items I had before picking up the hemp rope and trail rations and such...I honestly didn't recalculate and I've done it a few times with different results. I give up but if you'd like to look, here's my sheet: http://www.enworld.org/showpost.php?p=2454371&postcount=205

[sblock=Math and logistics]In general, information that might be useful as I'm trying to figure this out:

* Were we using trail rations for the whole trip, or was Quarion using Survival to supplement our food (or perhaps just his)? Some of this weight may be moot in that it was burned up during the trip if we ate it.

* Mordik and Eanos already had bedrolls, and I believe Quarion said he didn't want one, so we really only need two of the supplied four, yes?

* I can't seem to find how many people a tent holds. If we assume we can fit two in a tent during inclement weather (and again assume Quarion sticks to his "I prefer nothing between me and nature), we can dump a tent or two, as well

* NakuruSai: obviously, everything on Mordik's equipment list isn't in his haversack. He'd be wearing the armor, of course, and I'm assuming carrying one or more of the weapons. Do you happen to have an idea of what's not in the haversack for purposes of calculating weight?

Sorry to take up so many posts on minutae; I should have paid closer attention earlier, I guess. [/sblock]

During the trip the club/rapier would have been out. After we're going towards the shrine from this last stop I'm swapping the rapier with the silvered longsword. My armor is on and the sling is in one pocket with a few bullets. The masterwork thieves tools are hidden on my person =)

[sblock=OOC: ]Quarion was at least feeding himself and sleeping under the stars. (+11 Survival, means 21 when taking 10. From Survival: "Get along in the wild: Move up to one-half your overland speed while hunting and foraging (no food or water supplies needed). You can provide food and water for one other person for every 2 points by which your check result exceeds 10." B4cchus can rule that however he wants, but I think that Quarion, at the very least, is covered at his normal travel speed.)[/sblock]

concerning the food: you have enough time each day to forage while moving at half speed. I did assume you used rations (as they where supplied). I don't know how many people fit in a tent: the rules don't say. I'll rule that you can fit two persons in a tent for now (i.e. this adventure).

Aletheia said:
"A trapper, you say? Well, that's a strong, manly profession, though my elven friend over there will hope that you treat the animals with proper respect. He's a druid, you know? Oh, I'm sure you do--this town was once home to some of the greatest druids in the lands. Say, my friend is going on a pilgrimage to the druid shrine near here. Do you know how to get there?"

"There be no druid shrine in these woods here that i know of mam. but there be some things in those woods ye don't want to go near. Better you stay here where it's safe."

Aletheia said:
"That sounds delicious, Orrin. <Insert kid's name here> has told me about how wonderful <Is the cook here the innkeeper? His wife? Whichever> 's cooking is, and I'm eager to try it myself after a hard day's travel. I am Aletheia Evangeline, good sir, and I am a traveling healer. Would you like me to take a look at your mother for you?"

ooc: you have no idea who the cook is. The kid's name is Hald.
"Well met miss Evangeline. My mother you say? Ha, that old hag won't let anybody near. It's not much, but on her age you can't be carefull enough. The local clergyman tried to talk her into coming to the shrine but she won't have it."

Quarion said:
When the innkeeper enters, Quarion turns to him and bows slightly. "Greetings to you, Orrin. I am Quarion, keeper of the forest. I seek the druid shrine in this region, as milady has just said. But we have traveled a long way, and I think some rest is in order. Have you any wine?"

"Druid shrine you say? I'm sorry i know nothing of the sort. But i do know wine! I have some excellent wine from last year. And something to eat with that as well?" Orrin hurries towards the kitchen (appearently one of the two doors leading out of the commonroom) and yells order to get 'some food on some plates for the guests'.

"Really? Don't you even have any stories about druids or a shrine here, great druids who defeated a mighty darkness? My friend and I read about it too. Haven't you had any other druids come here to visit? I suppose not...they are a secretive lot sometimes, Druids, isn't that right Quarion dear?" Aletheia smiles and turns to tell Orrin conspiratorially, "Get this--did you know Druids have a secret language that they won't teach anyone, even their most trusted friends?"

'The shrine's existence is not that secret, is it? Or are they holding something back? If it's old, maybe only the old woman knows where it is...Of course, from the description, she does not sound like someone pleasant with whom to associate.'

"I think our host already providedus with a valuable clue" interrupts Odno "When he spoke of a place in the forest that few men dare to thread on. Considering what we know at the present moment, it's my guess that's the location we seek. It's now the turn to inquiry why said area deserves such dreadful reputation"

"As i said, i know nothing of secret druids in these woods here. I must be on may way to check some traps. I'll be back after sunfall. You be staying here lill miss and we'll talk some more" He says to Aletheia with a big grin on his face. With that said he stands up and leaves for the exit.

Not much later the patron returns while balancing a number of plaes and some drinks. "Now then, here is your delightfull dinner! And some wine! I take it i can set you all up with a room for the night? Or maybe longer? An would you all be sleeping in seperate rooms?" He sets the plates and the wine on the tables in front of you and awaits your answer with a sheepish smile.

ooc: indeed, the orange part is what the trapper said.
RA: you -could- roll a sense motive if you think they're holding anything back...

Eanos' eyes narrow, but he continues in his silence as the trappers prepare to leave. Perhaps he's simply suspicious because the last set of "trappers" he met weren't what they seemed, but he feels mildly distrustful whatever the source.

[sblock=OOC]I didn't roll Sense Motive because I was under the impression that would have been a secret roll, but I did mean to imply it with all the talk of Eanos trying to get a sense of the men. His check modifier is +11.[/sblock]

Eanos looks to his companions. "Certainly all but my nature-loving friend will be staying in your fine establishment," he says with a rare smile. "I'm embarrassed, though, that we've not discussed our sleeping arrangements yet. If you might give us a moment to ourselves?"

Assuming the group can discuss in private, he adds, "I might suggest that we get double rooms, myself," he says. "It might be dangerous to keep ourselves isolated in single rooms, especially with two of our number still new to fighting. At the very least, we should insist on adjacent rooms."

[sblock=packing]Okay, I think I've got this pretty well sorted out, if everyone agrees:

I was thinking it took us a week, but looking back it took two. Even assuming Quarion fed himself, we'd still burn through the available rations (including the personal rations each character had) on the trip, so counting the weight of those seems moot to me.

So, I cut back to two tents and two bedrolls and stuck the spare morningstar and rope on Eanos' horse. That leaves Eanos about 40 pounds over in his haversack, which Mordik's ought to have room for even if he's swapping weapons in and out. Easiest way to move that is put the tents (40 pounds themselves) in Mordik's sack and call it good.

Any objections / suggestions? If not, I'll strike the tents from Eanos' sheet and NakuruSai can add them to Mordik's and I think we're good, weight-wise.[/sblock]
