Break of Dawn [Manzanita judging] COMPLETED

"Interesting" says Odno when he notices the last steps' strange color patterns. "Is it meant as a warning, is it just decorative, or does it have any other purpose? and how's possible the color endured, when time has eroded the very rock? Unless they used stone of that color, of course."

Without the threat of attacking birds you manage to cross the chasm withou much difficulty. Altough the old bridge does object to it. Several planks that crumble underneath you feet but thanks to your extra rope you don't burden the bridge above it's breaking point.

On the other side of the bridge you find yourself in front of the old structure. It is a vaguely pyramid shaped stone builing with large steps leading from the base to a platform on the top. You estimate that it is about 60 feet tall.
At this top there seems to be some kind of platform but you can't see what is on top of it from this far.
The whole structure is adorned with drawing depicting all kinds of scenes.
You can't make out what they depict, since most of it is eroded away in the years.

The steps leading to the top are about one foot high each and the last five steps are distinguishly coloured.

Mordik will take one of the ropes (the lifeline rope) and the grappling hook, quickly tying off the "second bridge" rope for now. In case we need again.. he adds, putting the rope and grappling hook in his pack.

At the "pyramid", I wonder if this is what we're lookin for...

OOC: Can Mordik make anything out about the detail of this structure with stonecunning? age, makeup, etc, anything useful

"It's obviously well defended" says Odno, thinking on the chasm "Can anyone tell if those last steps are hazardous? Or tell if they bear magic of any type?"

ooc: I think we should check for traps, then magic, on the steps near the top of the pyramid, and continue once we're sure it's safe.

Eanos, human monk

Eanos takes his sais in hand once he's crossed the chasm, though he's glad he doesn't appear to need them at the moment.

Eanos shakes his head. "I have keen senses, but I haven't the training to recognize traps, nor the ability to detect magic. Mordik? Care to take a look?"

Mordik will take his time looking for any signs of traps or hidden entrances.

We're not in any rush, right? I'll take mah time checking just to be sure. Keep an eye to our surroundings while I'm lookin'

(OOC: take 20, search +8)

(OOC: Hmm, shouldn't he either find the trap or not find it? If the issue is that it was a DC 30 trap and his Take-20 only got a 28, it may be important that NakuruSai forgot the +2 from Stonecunning if the trap is placed on stone. If he found the trap, let's disarm it :))

ooc: it was a colorfull way of saying he found a trap :)
Mordik finds a trap in the first colored step. He grabs his tools and attempts to disarm it, with succes!

(OOC: Sweet! Let's keep checking though. He can check up to 10 feet away according to the SRD, so that means every time he gets a step disarmed, he can stand on it and check up to two steps ahead :))
