Quarion frowns as everybody lightly debates killing an animal based on a hunch. He lets them talk a while before interjecting, "Animals are not tools to be used. They have lives and purposes, just as all life does, no more or less important to the whole of existence than any of ours. I will not call a living creature here just to kill it on a whim. If we exhaust all other options, then perhaps I can make a small ceremony out of my meal. But how do we even know there is a magical presence here? Did anyone detect such an aura, or are we simply guessing, based on a few carvings on this old stone?"

Can Quarion determine the type of creature based on the bones? KN (Nature) +8, Survival +10.

Mordik notes the ceremonial dagger by a light swing with it: Pretty fancy lookin dagger for it not to be used in some sorta magicking!

Notice how the traps were set on those colored steps: that suggest me that this particular color has some religious or symbolic significance, as it didn't mean anything to us other than the fact they were colored and thus awakened our natural wariness. The carvings, and the structure's place, also has religious tones. Therefore it makes sense that only a religious ceremony correctly performed would open the way to the amulet - assuming it's the amulet what the pyramid is conceived to guard. Quarion huffs as Mordik twirls the dagger. "This staff I carry has many intricate carvings, it is light but extremely sturdy." The elf spins his staff in his hands and the pounds the floor with it. A cloud of dust poofs. "It is not magical. I use it to defend myself and to walk, not for divine ceremonies. Besides, just because a humanoid carved some markings in a stone and killed rabbits over it does not mean the stone or the dagger is magical."

Mordik bristles for a moment, I mean no ill Elf, so quit lookin' for it. The dagger, (he holds it up) the state of the carvings here, (he points it at the carvings on this block) no means of opening the block(he makes a sweeping motion with the dagger, like he's brushing the block away from afar)I'm jus' saying I don't see any way it's gonna open. And that usually means some sorta magic.

Mordik puts the dagger aside and replies, I'll push with ye. If we push it on this side hard enough it should open, barring magic stronger than our backs.

"Are we sure of that? The creatures we have encountered thus far have shown signs of being demonic, or at least tainted by some evil. If this was once a druidic shrine, I suspect it has changed ownership since that time. Let us attempt the dwarf's idea, he is rather good at what he does." Quarion glances at Mordik, a slightly apologetic look in his eye, but then quickly turns back towards the entrance and the light outside.
