Break of Dawn [Manzanita judging] COMPLETED

"You don't have to trust me, just enough to pay the gold. I require nothing else than a pound of gold or a pint of blood as long as it's your's to give. Half the gold won't do. You pay all of it and i'll open the passage."

ooc: your sense motive does not tell you he might be lying or hiding something.

OOC: Sorry folks, but I need to disappear for about a week and a half. I don't expect to be able to post or read, so I'll need somebody to NPC Quarion while I'm gone. I have one more night with access, so there's a little time left before I go.

"I don't trust you to open the way. You might not even be able to do it--maybe you'll just tell us about another Devil that we have to speak with next. It is a traditional and customary arrangement in situations like this to pay half now and half later. If you can open the way beneath the altar, prove it to us."

"That's no custom from where i come. Either you pay now or don't pay at all. I figure i'll only be around for another minute or so, so make up your mind quick mortal."

"You're going to vanish? Well, if this was a temporary summoning, you wouldn't be able to bring any gold back with you...No, as I said before, this is a Planar Binding effect. That means you won't be able to leave until you have completed the agreed-upon bargain. It also means that if you die, you will be destroyed forever. So tell me, do you really want to press your luck, little beast? If we command you, you must perform the task. For 50 gold, the task we demand is to open the passageway and then sit down there," she points to a spot on the ground, "And explain everything you know about this situation--including, but not limited to, why you know how to open the path, why the altar had a ritual that summoned you, how to make sure the door will not close on us on the way out and the secret of how to open it for us in case we need to do it, what is really sealed within, what happened to this place to cause it to be abandoned and full of foul and most unnatural creatures, and all the rest. You must know the answers else you would not know how to open the way. The magics will keep you there until you complete the task. That also means that once you accept the money, you will be magically bound to complete the task in its entirity. We task you with that task. And no weaseling out of telling us everything--you must answer all those questions as well as state everything you know about this place and the situation here."

(OOC: If it acquiesces, she's okay to have them pay the gold. The idea is to listen to its information and get it on the ground. Then we can probably kill it while it isn't done yet. Interestingly, though Aletheia thinks it's a Planar Binding, it's probably a Planar Ally effect, which is written assuming the summoned critter is of an alignment friendly to yours (since its Cleric only and Good Clerics are banned from using it to summon evil outsiders), so they don't have any sort of clause for enmity)

ooc: Ra, i'd like to see some knowledge check to back up Ali's great understanding of planar summonings, bindings, etc. Do you want to back the speech up with something like diplomace, bluff or intimidate?

(OOC: I actually had her get it wrong and incomplete because I figured that was appropriate from watching the rituals and hearing lessons about binding outsiders from her sister Aggy. But just rolling, she did get a 20 on Knowledge Religion, which probably covers Planar Ally, so I might want to make her more accurate on that after all. Ally is making nice now, so she'd prefer to use Diplomacy if applicable.)

ooc: although your knowledge check granted you insight in the workings of specific spells, it does indeed not tell you how this imp was exactly send here and what the exact rules and implications of his stay here are.

"You are starting to bore me, mortal. You cannot command me to do anything and i will explain you nothing. I have proposed the terms of the bargain. Either you agree or not, what will it be?"

(OOC: Granted--she's assuming, of course!)

"You will perform the task given to you by the one that called you. There are only two kinds of effects that will bring you into this world, and if it was ust a summoning, you would be a moron to try to bring gold back with you since it wouldn't work. Thus, it is a Calling. And that means you can be slain here, and you must stay until you perform the task set by the one who called you."

(OOC: Cue Quarion to make similar demands, since Rae told us to NPC him)

"We've already shown you our silver blade. If this works anything like a few other spells, we can gain power over you by showing you an object you hate, fear, or generally oppose. How about this holy symbol of Valessa, a goddess whose alignment is the polar opposite of your own, fiend?" she brandishes the holy symbol, "Now agree to do as your master, Quarion, has commanded you and you shall receive your payment. Otherwise, you can forget it. You don't get to dictate the task that you will complete, we do."

The imp replies to Ali with a vile sneer upon it's face in an anfered voice
"Foolish, foolish mortals. You think you know so much. Maybe one day i will make you see how little you actually know. For the last time, you do not command me. you merely set the steps in motion that brought me here. I Do dictate the terms of the agreement which i ahve. Now present the gold or blood in full or decline my offer. No half payment or silly commands requiringing me to bow my head at your blades.
I suggest you to remain silent and not obstruct me anymore until the deal is completed and i am gone."

[sblock=Ali]Ali feels a srange sensation while the words are spoken to her and she feels inclined to remain silent and not interfere with the imp.
ooc: as per the suggestion spell.[/sblock]
