All good things must (eventually) come to an end.

At least they're not extending it for a fifth season on another network that wants to "kick it up a notch" like what happened with B5

I'm skeptical of this. We know that information from the actors has been misleading in the past (Starbuck is dead, Katie Sackhoff appears annoyed and is looking for other work). in addition, the part I bolded from the quote by Olmos sticks out to me as a major hedge:

This will probably be the most extraordinary season of 'Battlestar,'" said Olmos, while attending the Saturn Awards Thursday night in Universal City, Calif. "It's the final season, so it's definitely going to be the most vicious. As far as we know, in respects of the way we have this show constructed, this is the final season."

Until I hear it officially, I wouldn't put more to this than trying to keep the buzz going during their overlong hiatus.

It seems to make sense.

I mean, heck, the season finale for this season all but suggests that the next season would be the last one.

And it'd be a much longer run than the original's, for sure.

That's really not at all what happened to Babylon 5.
