Bubba-hotep!

What do you get when you cross Elvis, JFK, and a 2000 year old soul-sucker?

You get Bruce Campbell's new flick...BUBBA-HOTEP.

The trailer cracks me up no matter how many times I watch it. Too bad I'll probably have to wait for a DVD to actually see it.

God, this movie sounds good. I'll have to wait till later to watch the preview, but I heard an interview on the radio a few weeks ago with the director, and I couldn't stop laughing. It's the coolest idea for a movie in years.

Last time I looked, the limited release wasn't coming anywhere near me

Looks like I'll prolly have to wait for DVD as well. Feh.

Never can tell, buzz and interest could get it released to more screens.

Hence the word 'prolly' :p

Saw it a couple of weeks ago. This is one of those films that sounds MUCH better on paper than what you actually see on film.

Campbell was great, and the backstory of him as Elvis who switched lives with an impersonator was enough for its own movie. That's where all the cleverness was, the mummy seemed just thrown in to make people snicker when they told someone else what it was about.

"Dude! Bubba Ho-Tep! Bruce Campbell as an elderly Elvis Presley fighting a freaking mummy with his walker!" See that just sounds funny. Not so much when you see it.

And they obviously weren't entirely confident in their gimmicky premise, a sizable amount of time is spent on a subplot centered around the puss filled tumor on Campbell's penis and whether or not a supernatural whodunnit is thrilling enough to give him an erection. Nice.

It had its moments, but if you see Bubba Ho-Tep, make sure you're REALLY in the mood, that and a good crowd can make it kind of entertaining. Otherwise thumbs down.

I hear ya man, and I certainly respect your opinion (you're my hero, remember :D ). However, Bruce Campbell=the Man, and I could probably watch him read the phone book for 90 mins and still get a kick out of it. But then again, I've got a pretty strange sense of humour. :p

P.S. Tom; glad to see you back. Who's the creepy bugger you have for your avatar?
