The "boring" is when the same stats keep getting that 8 every single time. The frequency of 8 in Str, Int, and Cha feels like poor design to some of us, and making some targeted improvements may lead to more diverse character options.
Yeah, but why first-off are you bothering to look at other people's character sheets... and on top of that, a modifier only one or two points lower than a supposed "non-boring" stat array does not actually show up during gameplay as anything appreciably different. So it's nothing more than just arbitrarily "thinking" that an 8 in some stat all the time is some big issue. But in actual gameplay at the table it is pretty much meaningless.

Just stop worrying about other people's character sheets and instead watch players just play at the table. Cause then all the supposed issues just disappear.

Sure. It’s realistic, but people get upset when paladins don’t prioritize intelligence.
And why is it people only get bored when other players make the same stats low all the time but not when they make them high? Every Barbarian has wicked high strength, every Cleric has wicked high Wisdom, every Monk has wicked high Dexterity... isn't that just as boring as seeing every Druid dump Charisma? ;)

I was in a party of 5 that nearly had a tpk because of 2 intellect devourers. That might be more or less the worst case scenario for a low int party, but no one has anything better than a 10. It highest strength was a 13, iirc.

YES!!! It is insanely boring and unoriginal.

It is why I like the group I play in. New players, inexperienced DM, no one worried about min-maxing much. And few high scores "where people think they really matter".

I'm almost always the DM and I'm a designer, so I'm always thinking about ways to tweak the game.
