Bull Rush vs. Stand Still

During a bull rush, the rushee is subjected to attacks of opportunity due to movement. As an attack of opportunity, someone with the Stand Still feat can choose to stop a person from moving instead of causing damage. Can use of the Stand Still feat stop a person from moving, and hence save them from being bull rushed? If so, it could be very useful to stop someone from bull rushing an ally.

Mechanically, it does seem odd to force a character to make a reflex save to continue moving when he doesn't want to move. Also, the fact that Stand Still states that the character halts "as if he had used up his move actions for the round" leads me to think this tactic might not work. Any thoughts?

I think your last point is the significant one. Stand Still uses up any Move actions the target has left, but doesn't turn him into an Immovable Rod. You can't use it to stop a falling creature before it hits the ground, nor to halt a friend who's being bodily shoved by an enemy.
