Buncha Buncha Action Point Questions

I'm in a new Eberron campaign, and the standard amount of Action Points mentioned in the ECS is given out.

Our DM has ruled that they can be used to add to damage rolls as well, so we've seen it used quite a bit for that "extra punch" against the bad guy (or to try and turn a damage roll of 1 into something significant :) ).. the other use I've seen it used in is saves.. mostly will saves at this point. Me, I've used them for those but also to speed up casting an infusion (I'm playing a Fighter/Artificer).

The dynamic of their use is perhaps a little different, because we've levelled up after each session (we play twice a month for about 11 hours per session).. still, we've just reached 3rd level and it's around this point that level advancement gets slower.. so it'll be interesting to see if people keep using them at the high rate they have been, or if they'll try and husband them for the next session.. in any event, Action Points have worked really well, and added a heroic aspect. We've *needed* them. This DM hasn't pulled punches and it's been very intense.. just the way I like it!

I use them more or less as written in the Eberron Campaign Setting, but I do have a short list of additional special abilities that can be paid for with action points.

My alt.Monk has a couple of higher-level abilities that require the use of an Action Point-- particularly Quivering Palm and Denying the Attack.

I also borrowed the Hand of God from Shadowrun-- you spend all of your remaining Action Points (minimum 1), plus all of the XP in excess of the minimum for your ECL, and you are guaranteed to survive whatever godawful situation you are in, though you usually survive it in less-than-pleasant fashion, and if you use the Hand of God, you do not win.

I've used them as is in Eberron, and so far, I've only seen 2 ever used. In playing myself, I've used 3, but I've only been playing in PbP, so not a lot of times to use them yet.
