Calling all fighters!

You know, for the life of me I can't remember if multiple potions can be in affect at one time, but if they can...

Don't forget that all the buffs that spellcasters can give them selves (up to 3rd level) can be duplicated with a purchasable potion. Feel free to stock up!

potion of shield. I would save it for when you have to deal with that damn rogue. If you start out back to back, you have a bit of an advantage against the mage because he's within striking distance. Is there any magic item that gives you a dispel magic? I would toss that out there. That will be one p*ssed off mage :)

Oh, one more thought. If you start back to back, make sure you have Combat Reflexes, so you get the AoO if he moves away and casts, even in the first round if he wins initiative. Actually, Wings of Flying and a Spiked Chain would be a good combo, that way he can't 5' step away and cast, and you can always catch up, even in the air.

hmmm. A Returning 2-ball bola? Hee hee.

Better yet, use the Psionics Handbook and get a Returning Ranged Shield. It's not powerful, but it has a lot of class.

Can you prestige class? If you can, you might want to go with the Gladiator in the Sword and Fist book. I don't remember exactly what it has/does etc., but it's great if you're doing arena fighting.

Oh, and for magical items, I'd go with an Animated Lion's Head Shield. It's like +2 or 4 to AC if you just call upon it, or it can attack (bite) with your attack bonuses, including multiple attacks, and you never have to hold it so you can use a weapon two handed still.

Hmmm. You could carry a bucketful of beads of force, cure serious potions and a cape of the mountebank. Put the high stat in dex and take improved initiative. First action is to throw bead of force at your feet. Everyone takes 5D6...everyone who fails their save in stuck within a ten-foot radius(?) wall of force. Have a reach weapon and quickdraw to poke people.

Alternatively run away thirty feet and smack that bead of force on your forehead (voluntarily failing your save.) Sit back, drink your potions to heal up, and ready your reach weapon to hit anyone who enters the sphere. When the bead wears off, throw another bead down and heal again. Repeat until fight is done and you end with highest percentage of your hit points.

Cheesy, and sure to enrage the other players. With dispel magics and teleports/dimension doors, it's not sure to work. I'd do it for the humor value alone, if nothing else.

It is likely that many of your opponents will be using invisibility of some sort, so Blindfighting is a must. Iron Will and Lightning Reflexes are necessary also, as much of what you need are good saves.

I wouldn't invest too heavily in armor, as most of your serious threats that are AC based will be either touch, ranged touch, or flat-footed, so purchase normal armor that takes max advantage of your DEX and spend your armor cash on an amulet of nat prot. and a ring of prot (probably only +2 each with your cash cap, but it will apply ALWAYS).

As said before, Potions are your best friend. Heroism, Cat's Grace, Endurance and Wisdom are Key, as they will buff your saves. Haste will help all around. Potion of Flying will give you the necessary mobility. Resist Potions (Fire and Electricity being the most useful) will help some with AoE and DD spells, but are really a luxury, ie get everything else first. Potion of Nondetection and Invisibility used in combination might give you the time you need to get a good position and wait out a few opponents.

Cloak of Resistance, get it. Brooch of Shield Ditto. Sure Striking on your Weapon, you bet.

I made a fighter trying to see how I would do it, and I gave him a +1 Keen Sure Striking Falchion. With the Expertise, Improved Trip, Knockdown chain and Weap Spec and Improved Crit, I had this guy threatened a trip every time he hit and Criting on a 14 or better for double damage.

Hope these help.

Another thought

Thought about some things.... How you can get more from your cash.

Forget about most magical items. Let the spells be cast on you prior to the combat. Only thing you need then is a ring of counterspelling with several goodleveled dispels and greater dispels.

Need a +5 weapon? Not a problem, GMW at caster level 15, very cheap. Same with magic vestment for shield and armour. Displacement 50% very important. Fly... Think noone will have true seeing handy. And who would think that you got all things cast on you instead of magic items and waste several targeted dispels on you?

Thanks for all your help. I knew I could count on you. Well the game is tonight. Like I said earlier, either myself or Sinklar will post to let you know who won.
