Campaigns you hope to run someday before you die

Someday before I die, I'd like to run a campaign....

based on the OD&D(1974) rules again... oh wait I am. :D
Yer livin' the dream, 'glo! ;)

In a similar vein, I'd love to run a campaign under classic system I never got a chance to play, probably RuneQuest (for Glorantha!) or DragonQuest.

It'd be fun to run a D&D setting under a different system, too (GURPS Greyhawk, Eberron HERO, Everway Planescape, etc.), but it's maybe not a "before I die" thing for me.

Some day! When I have retired and have copious free time to work on it...

I will run my diceless Time Travel Call of Cthulhu campaign that's a twisted combination of Groundhog Day and Twelve Monkeys.

I have the whole thing planned out, beginning, middle, ending, themes, characters, the works. But it would still require a _ton_ of prep to actually run!

Balsamic Dragon

The Complete Masks of Nyarlathotep and Beyond the Mountains of Madness either for BRP or d20 Cthulhu.

A Dominion War Campaign for the Star Trek RPG, using the CODA ruleset.

Harlequin for Shadowrun 3rd edition.

Return to the Tomb of Horrors

Sadly none of these will probably come to pass. :(

I'd like to run an all-rogues "thieves' guild" campaign

I would love to do this. I've talked about it with multiple groups but it ever came up. I think it would be a blast. I wanted to base it on the Thief video game. If I could capture the mood and feel of the world that games provokes and put it into a campaign, it would be like sweet and stuff.

I'm a big fan of "themed" campaigns. Campaigns based on the same class or race can be a lot of fun. I even had an idea for a campaign in which everyone in the group was part a troubadour group. You could even combine the two and make a campaign of all halfling bards!!

As cliche as it is, I would like to run some kind of post-apocalyptic game or even something like 28 Days Later. Just some kind of setting where they aren't many people left in the world. Not sure what setting I would use.

Ever since I read the "Crusader Earth" novels in Dragon I want to run a campaign set in Earth sometime during the crusades. It would have everything: mad demon summoning wizards, templars and hospitalers, trips to Constantinopel, Venice, Cairo, Bagdad etc., lots of historical personalities, maybe even some time travel to the biblical era to be able to use some Testament stuff from Green Ronin. I really hope I'll be able to pull this off sometimes.

This brings up a good question: What's stopping you?

In my case, it's probably a combination of lack of time, laziness, and a suspected lack of interest in these ideas among my gaming groups. IOW, what time I have would probably be best used working on a game that has a good likelihood of being played. That, and most of my groups are already full of players chomping at the bit to run their own campaigns, not to mention that I've already semi-promised to run various other ideas already.

I just have too many good ideas. Yeah, that's it. ;)

BiggusGeekus: I would soo love to play in that campaign :D It would be so much fun applying the pc's futuristic mindset and knowledge to a typical D&D world. Besides, it would take care of a the problem of 'teaching' the players enough of the world background to realistically play a native character, since, in this case, they shouldn't know anything about the world. Lovely ;)

To answer the original question:

Well, any campaign really... sadly I have several settings, quite a few adventures and lots of time, but NO PLAYERS! :\

One thing I would like to do, is play a campaign in my homebrew, with the pc's as members of The Calmoran Adventurers Guild. Ideally it would be three different groups each playing an important, but different role, in banishing the eternal darkness from the world. Occasionally there could be crossovers between the groups, or maybe cooperation between them. The groups should be small, 3 or 4 pc's in each, which IMO gives good gameflow, while allowing two or even all three to get together for an adventure, without making it completely unmanageable.

That, or just a standard Eberron campaign :)
