Can Dextyr Keep All These Strikers Alive? (DM: JoeNotCharles, Ozymandias79 Judging)

[sblock=OOC]So, is it possible to change Tonk's action? If I had known that the chance of success was not dependent on my character's action, then I would not have engaged in it.[/sblock]

Yes, I meant that if Blade doesn't want to go along with it, you can still choose to make the attack but it will miss. That is, if Blade says no, that's not directly forbidding you from making the attack, since that would be telling you how to play your character.

[sblock=Tonk's Stuff]If (and ONLY if) it's possible to do this and still run away (without taking damage or suffering penalties to skill checks)....

With an annoyed sigh, Tonk appears from the brush behind Blade and smashes the avenger over the head with his mace. (Minor Action: Blade is Hunter's Quarry; Standard Action: King's Castle v. Reflex (1d20+6+2=26, 2d8+4+2d6+1d6+1=25))

When Blade doesn't go down, Tonk whacks him again for good measure. (Spend Action Point. (Since we earned one for the last milestone.) Disheartening Strike: v. AC (1d20+6+2=18, 1d8+8+1=10))

All damage is non-lethal.

Tonk then picks up his unconscious friend's body and runs like hell...

Athletics (1d20+9=14)

Well, that should at least allow us to start the skill challenge for running away! ;)[/sblock]

[sblock=DM]If Tonk can't do this and run away, then I don't want to engage in the action.[/sblock]

[sblock=ren]IMO (and feel free to disagree), I think you should let Tonk do this, it would be a shame if a creative chestnut like this were not rewarded with game play :lol:.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]
Well, the idea of it is great and I love Tonk's attempt, but Blade will see him coming (21 stealth for Tonk, 21 (or 22 if Tristan's close by) Passive Perception for Blade) and with him having a higher initiative wouldn't just stand idly by while he was attacked.

Dextyr turns as the ground shakes and the rock behind him begins to crumble and form into a humanoid shape. He spots blade turning to face the creature while the others dive into the woods and attempt to escape.

"BLADE!" Dextyr shouts, "This is not the time or place for this fight. Make Maros proud and be a cunning warrior as well as a brave one and lets get to a more advantageous position".

Dextyr hopes to play on Blades utter devotion to Maros and get the stubborn Deva to join the rest of them and flee.

Dextyr then moves away from the creature in the opposite direction as his comrades di and calls out to the creautre hoping it can understand either his words or his actions. "HEY rock boy - Bet you're too slow and stupid to catch me before I can make it back to the cottage", and with that Dextyr takes off into the woods, hoping to lure the creature away from the others.

Blade was about to rush headlong towards the creature when Dextyr's words struck a note with him and he turns back away from the monster and proceeds to run with the bard moving quickly through the brush, knocking aside branches that get in his way.

[sblock=OOC]It is too bad Tonk doesn't get to bash Blade over the head. That would have been rather amusing :)

So, my stealth check was my first skill challenge check, yes? Which means we're at 3 success, 2 failures. At least we'll get a different map when rock dude catches us ...[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]
What are you talking about - if there was no love for Blade, then everyone would have accepted his selfless sacrifice and ran like hell while the stone creature squished him. Its clear that Tonk loves his punch-brother to go to such an extreme to save him. Can't you just feel the love?
