Can you Really kill someone?

doktorstick: Thats one thing I had in mind, but kings tend to be powerhungry, and they'd have to start all over in the afterlife. Other than that, it should work.

Cutty, interesting...very interesting...

Fba, I am trying to use existing official rules, just part of my thought experiment really. I'd still let PC's and NPC's do it though.

Jg, as I said earlier, I hadn't thought about which time frame to use for the 200yr time limit, both would be equally good, so its possible.

Victim, are you suggesting I kill ALL high level clerics and druids at 17th level an up? In an average world thats 15-30 high level characters, and thier buddies. By the time I get halfway done they're gonna notice. And I wonder how thier dieties would react... And then I'd have to kill those about to ascend to 17th level....ughh. Thats seems like more work to me.

Summon Monster VI (Chaos Beast), turn target into a chaos beast. Kill target, disintegrate.

That might make it harder to rez him, since the target's type becomes outsider after the chaos beast gets ahold of him.

Is this only a rule for lower level spells, or can people whose dead bodies that are "Raised Undead" not be resurected?

If you have Psions, the Telepath "Fatal Attraction" might be a good power for this. If you manifest this power, the poor guy will commit suicide within 1d4 days, and even if he fails, he will try it again 1d4 days later, and so on. Since it was his "free" will to die, he will probably not want to be resourected.

And I think if you kill the target, utterly destroy its body, and cast a wish or miracle saying you want him to stay dead forever, than the only way to resurrect him will probably be a complicated quest, involving powerful artifacts or gods... (And as a good trick, let the murders become the ones that are willing to fulfill the quest - but fail :) )

Mind seed?

Perhaps you have a chance with the psionic power mind seed, which over a couple of days replaces the target's personality with your own. I don't recall the power's description saying anything about the target's soul, you you might as well rule that it doesn't leave the body, but is just changed.

I think it might work...

Kill him. Turn him into undead. Get a hunter of the dead (prestige class) to kill him.

One of their top level abilities ensures that if they lay an undead to rest it NEVER comes back.

Cheers

Do ghosts still have their ability to magically age someone to death? You could do that then hide them from "true reincarnate" (although I wouldn't think that true reincarnate could bring someone back from old age death - since not even wishes can do that. Old age is given as the ultimate end time and time again)

Cheers

Throw them into the elemental dimension of time (Theres a small exerpt in the MotP about it) and have him immerge millenium later. Either in the past where he dies (can't raise somebody thats been dead for 1000s of years usually). Or put them into the future (can't raise them because technically their not dead in the present.) Not even a wish can permit time travel and navigating through the time plane is pretty much hopeless.

No, you just kill the people who would raise him. When you kill the LG king, you probably don't have to worry about CE evil churches raising him. The king probably would only have a good enough relationship for True Res with a handful of churches, so the assassins can probably just kill the most powerful priests in his ally churches. Also, killing the leaders of churches supporting your enemy is probably something that would help your cause anyway.
