Hmmm, what page does it discuss in-game physics in D&D? I must have skimmed over that within the past 7 years.
Seems like you are either trying to apply real world physics to D&D, or make up some sort of D&D physics that works one way for some things (orb of fire), and another way for other things (orb of force). In either case, RAW doesn't support your line of physics.
