Character Sheet Question

First Post
I've finally managed to find a "basic vanilla" D&D character sheet in electronic (PDF) format that ***allows typing into the fields.*** (My goal is to be able to save & print my characters WITHOUT using pain-in-the-neck proprietary programs like PCGen - just give me simple data entry by field please!)

On the heels of that success, I would really REALLY like to find the new "Deluxe" Character Sheets (the four-page folio type specific to each class) in the same form-entry format. Has anyone ever ran across this?

Thx in advance!

Not exactly sure what you mean. Something like this maybe?

You might need special software to save this (with fields entered) on your PC though.

Thanks for the link. But I'm really looking for the exact Wizards of the Coast "Deluxe" sheets that you can buy hardcopies in game shops. They are a four-page layout and specific to class.

And of course, "fillable" like the link you sent (i.e. you can actually enter the data from your computer keyboard instead of having to print it out and write on it).

For that exact layout, you're probably out of luck. Wizards has the copyright the sheet designs they produce, and I don't think they do any fillable versions.

You have to have Acrobat or another program that will allow you to save modifications. The acrobat reader will not allow you to save anything you type into the fields. Although you can print them.
Somethign you might try is using CutePDF to "print" to a file effectively saving the information, although you may need to use a different reader than acrobat reader to get this accomplished. CutePDF can be found in the freeware section of www.snapfiles.com. There is also this CutePDF Form Filler, it costs 29.95 but has a trial version, I don't know if it's disabled in any way for the trial though. It can be fond at the above url as well.

Microsoft Excel, baby. Perhaps the #1 best microsoft product out there. It's easy to create character sheets that do a ton of calculations for you, and the best thing is, anyone with office can edit them, save them, print them, or whatever, without any problem. And you can even save them as web pages, word documents, or any number of other formats.

I love the way Adobe touts acrobat as the "portable document format". Sure, portable, the way a steel safe is portable. Heavy, difficult to create, and almost impossible to fiddle with. Feh. No thanks.
