Community Sizes

I must be missing something, but I can't seem to find the population numbers required for different community sizes in the PF guide. They're listed (thorpe to metropolis) in a table when purchasing magic items is discussed, but no information is given on, say, HOW MANY people must live in a community in order for it to be considered a metropolis.

Any help?

The weird thing was they were never included in the d20 SRD, so Paizo could never actually put them in the Pathfinder core book. Paizo fixed this with an update in the Gamemastery Guide.

Don't worry, you don't need to buy the book just for the rules, though (but the book is excellent in and of itself, and I highly recommend it). Paizo actually made their version of the rules Open Gaming Content so it's been posted on d20PFSRD, more specifically at Urban Adventures - Pathfinder_OGC

So Kingmaker allows the PCs to make up to small cities? I see. Interesting.

Yes, the Kingmaker AP has kingdom building rules. They are pretty straight forward and could easily be dropped into any campaign even if you were not playing Kingmaker but had an interest in kingdom building.
