The Psi Knight is so easy to reflavor though. It can be "ancient techniques", "ki", the force... I've played it for a few levels, it's a fun class.

Edit: the notion that the psi warrior might go before the champion or the purple knight is ... wow.
Psi Warrior mechanically feels like Battle Master-lite. Thematically it feels like Luke Skywalker from the original trilogy, and who doesn't want to be Luke Skywalker? (Don't answer that.)

No need to pick from that looong list of maneuvers, no fear that you picked the wrong ones, you just have the basics and you have them all.

Of course you still have to deal with the fear that you might have picked the wrong subclass....

Edit: typo.

And boy howdy folks sure are dogpiling on that poor psi warrior.
Really sucks, there's the Scout and the Knight and the friggin' Arcane Archer and Purple Dragon Knight that should be dropped first! Common!

Hopefully, the Champion isn't gonna last long :p I'd hate for it (or the Eldtrich Knight honestly) to win this.

I think we can all agree that the psi warrior should not win the "best fighter" contest. Clearly, it is not "the best".

But being booted first? When we have a few real stinkers on the list? daaamn.

The most of the cavalier's abilities are carefully worded so that they can be used without a mount.

But to answer your question: livery stables. Not exactly uncommon in a typical D&D setting.

I think the cavalier has 2 main problems. One is the name, because as you say, you don't have to ever ride a horse and you still be very effective.

The second problem is that as a "defensive fighter" (because it's what it is)... the rune knight does it better.

That's just regular late edition power creep.
Ironic, considering every guide I can find which ranks subclasses puts Cavalier above Rune Knight. Very strange for the optimizers to think that the late-edition power creep is worse than the mid-edition option...

Really wish we had cleared the Scout, the Knight, the Arcane Archer, the Purple Dragon Knight, the Sharpshooter and the Brute first...
