Compendium problems?

+1, +2, and +10! I love the Compendium and CB, heart and soul. I sure wish I could file some bug reports so they could be made even better though. :.-(

Hey guys. Let me start off by saying that I hear that this is an issue and I'm passing it on up as a concern to the people who can make the decisions/changes that need to be made. I'm a firm believer of the idea that we should be doing everything we can to make it so it's easy for you guys to help us.

Now, let me explain what the system is doing. When you start up the Character Builder and then click on the link provided to submit a bug in the scroll box on the right, the link is redirecting you to the Wizards of the Coast online help system, where the bug submission form lives.

Anytime someone submits a question/incident in through this system, they first have to be logged in to the help system. Currently this system is linked with the same system that Wizards uses fo handling customer questions, so it requires contact information in the event you need a response to a question or follow up. I agree that it doesn't make the most sense for reporting a bug.

While you may have provided your user name and password if you had just updated the CB, this isn't being forwarded on to the help system when you click on that link.

So it asks you to login, and you do. Then it pops up the account details page from accounts.gleemax.com. At that same time, a pop-up should...well... pop up, and in that screen you should see the bug form. At that point filling it out is relatively easy (I hope), but people are having problems getting to that point.

I know that allowing pop-ups solves some of the problems, so you might be able to try that. However, I've heard/seen that this doesn't always solve the problem. Barring that, all of us here at Wizards want a smoother bug reporting system as well, and I definitely feel your pain.

I'll hop back in and let you know if I have any updates on the bug submission process.

Trevor, thanks for listening. And to be honest, I was a bit too harsh in that rant. I can also see the point of needing a means to contact the person needing assistance--I hadn't groked that this is also the customer questions page, so that makes sense after all.

For me though the popup doesn't do anything useful (it's just an error message) so it's frustrating.

Having a one-way bug report scheme would be nice (maybe with an optional contact-me email?), and probably would generate more bug reports than even a fully-functioning version of the current system.

In any case, thanks for taking the time to forward this issue onward.
