Conan o'Brien makes fun of D&D

MEG Hal

First Post
I was watching last night (ill so could not get to sleep) and he was mentioning some sports info, and he stated something like:

Everyone is excited about this except for that one guy in row 5, he is like c'mon I play Dungeon & Dragons....
or something close to that.

it was pretty funny

Doubt it, not when you listen to the Vin Diesel interview. In that interview, Vin mentions that he played D&D (for like 26 years, no less), and Conan asks some really dumb questions that pretty much indicate that Conan has no idea how the game is played.

Oh, I saw that. My thought at the time was, "Oh, Conan is being dumb on purpose to ask deliberately funny questions." I didn't see that as a bash, or as a sign that he was clueless.

But YMMV. I like Conan, so I'm naturally assuming the point that makes him look best to me. :D

Conan makes fun of fantasy/sci-fi geeks and gamers all the time. Though he's a good sport about it, unlike some other hosts. He likes to mix D&D and LotR comments sometimes. :)

He also makes fun of himself quite a bit. It also helps that his comments directed at my favorite hobbies are pretty funny :D

Now I will grant that not all gamers are uninterested in sports, but I will say that on average they are less interested.

I was watching him interview Natalie Portman (mrroww!) a week ago or so and he used a discussion about Star Wars as an entree to bag on SW geeks. Later in the interview, in which she was promoting her new movie Cold Mountain (a Civil War period drama), he let slip that he's a big Civil War buff. Portman jumped in to say that Civil War re-enactors like Conan are way geekier than being into Star Wars, which Conan had to admit. It was a pretty funny exchange if you saw it.

I'd be willing to bet that Conan is a closet gamer. In fact I bet he even posts to these boards. As a matter of fact, I know which username he posts under and that ID is...
