It's going to be a 'cover' piece on the Fool's catalog...

I really just want your first reaction to it...

Lord knows you guys will give an honest opinion, whether I want it or not... :D

Thanks,

John-

I like the graphic design- the "frame" effect is very dramatic and evocative. I like the stylized artwork on the frame itself, as well- it reminds me of turn-of-the-century editorial cartoons in small-press newspapers. And that's a good thing. ;) My only problem is the central image itself- the pose is fine, but the image quality is fuzzy and does not match the frame style; it looks like photoshop instead of illustration.

I agree. The central image looks like it was done in layers and filters. At the very least I'd have them go back in and touch the central art up to make it look more like the rest of the piece. Also the central figure's relevance within the context of the rest of the image isn't really clear from a first glance, and I think that should be really important for a static image that's going on a cover. I might even go so far as to insert another image entirely in there that either is completely within the style of the rest of the art or at the least less er, brooding looking. Of course a lot could be forgiven if it's going to be colored and after the insertion of the text, right now though I'm just not fond of it at all.

The frame and the picture don't fit, someone has blured the picture leaving it feeling soft whereas the frame was made using a pencil. I tried to help it. It was a bit futile.
