Counters for Free Online?

Geetings, my fellow ENWorlders!
It's been a long time and I never posted much to begin with, so most of you didn't notice my absence, but for those of you that did...hey hey! I haven't been around much simply because I'm a rather involved college student--you know, classes, marching band, sultry romances--and just haven't had the chance to be hanging out at one of the coolest places ever. I have, however, been fortunate to discover a group of D&Ders in my dorm!

I digress from the point of this thread...

Seeing as how I'm at college, and hadn't had much luck in the past finding D&D groups that I fit in with, I didn't bother to bring down any of my miniatures or counters. Now that I'm playing in a group, I would really like to have something other than dice representing every single PC in our group as well as all the monsters. Are there any websites which offer counters for d20 combat online?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

www.bastionpress.com has some pdf counters for their minions fearsome foes monster book.

You can always just download some monster pictures and imbed them into an excel spreadsheet or word document then resize them as needed (and add a border). Just print and cut and you're ready to go!

Way back in the TSR days, there was a pullout game called "Orcwars". Basically, you were orcs, and you went to war. Anyhow, it had punch-out counters which WotC has since scanned and made freely available:

They're sort of small, but at least you've got counters that say "orc" or "hobgoblin" on them. You could use the tribal insignia for PCs (or the gold counters for the rogue )

I second this motion. The WOTC website has galleries for all the miniatures in their miniatures line. Scale them to the size you like and print 'em. They got most of the common creatures, and even some of the NPC-type miniatures can be used for other purposes.

I make my counters using the WOTC art galleries (and occasionally other sources - I've gotten a lot of PC mileage out of scanned Magic the Gathering cards), IrfanView, and Powerpoint. Download the picture, crop it to just the face or whatever you want on the counter using IrfanView (most image viewers should be capable of doing that, it's just that IView is the one I use), and use that picture as the "fill" in a circle or square in Powerpoint. For monsters, I usually use PP's "Add text" function to add a number in a big font, making sure that the number is either light on dark background or vice versa.

Hello

A while ago, I put a pdf booklet on my site - which was my attempt at introducing more of a Tolkien 'feel' to D&D orcs (yep I'm a Tolkien nut - so go easy on me ).

At the end of the booklet I included a page full of counters that represented each of the orc 'strains' (which can instead be used a counters for goblins, orcs, hobgoblins, etc.)

I don't know if they'll be of much use to you - but if you need orcs/goblinoids it's a start I guess.
