D&D (2024) Counting the minutes to get the PHB 2024...

We've been using the UA, so I'm not super excited about finally getting my hands on the new rules or anything. It'll be nice to have the updated character sheets on DDB, but it's hasn't been any significant trouble without them. So I'm pretty "meh" about it.

I find it amusing that there are so many threads and 'fixes' for the new rules when it has not even been at my local FLGS to purchase. I feel like I'm the only one on the site without a copy.

Yeah it's a little anti climactic. For 3e and 2e I knew next to nothing before I got the PHB. For 4e I played the in-store demo and Keep on The Shadowfell before I got the PHB and I was pumped (boy was I wrong) to finally get it. For 5e I played Lost Mines with the pre Gens first before getting the PHB and i was again pumpep.

But for this version I feel like the launch was too much hype and not enough mystery.

Heck even when I got the 1e PHB after playing B/X for a year or so we were amazed that wizards could use a d6 weapon.

I look forward to picking up a giant stack of them Tuesday at my game distributor and seeing the customers rush in for it. I'm a little disappointed that because of the long weekend that they won't be ready until the afternoon, which means that if any customers show up first thing, we won't have them yet.

That and I won't be able to read mine until after work..

I’m pretty sure it’s exactly the same as the 2014 trinkets table.
That would be fine. So long as there is some sort of crystal and musical instrument. My sorcerer hates carrying items and plans on using Presty for any needed M as well as his six second song to get heroic inspiration.

Many of them have been slightly reworded, but the only one that they replaced was the rope necklace with the mummified elf fingers. That's now a lock of someone's hair.

In our group there isn't much interest in moving to D&D2024 rules, so I'm waiting to be gifted a PHB in October for my birthday. I'm enjoying watching the Dungeon Dudes YT videos about the changes, but I'm not as stoked as I was for the 3e or 5e releases.

I'm pleased to see that a lot of people here are excited, though.
