Hmm....Knowledge Religion makes a lot of sense for her, so I think I'll do that. The Cure Moderate sounded really bad to me at first, but the more I think about it, the better it sounds. And I'll take a look at deathwatch--I'd not really considered that. Which of those two is likelier to be more useful, do you think? In any case, I'll probably need to add the third minor power on later.
Yeah, CMW is really nice. But so is deathwatch. I'd rather lose the Bless than the other two (but it is the cheapest). About adding the 3rd power, that isn't really an option if you are going to start with a greater power.

Still, I'll think about it; it'd certainly be cool. Thanks for the great advice!

Happy to help. Also, don't forget these are _costs_ to buy. If you are making it yourself the cost is half (but you also have the EXPs and time to spend).

A note on intelligent items:

The item’s alignment is the same as its creator’s. Determine other features randomly, following the guidelines in the relevant section.

You really are not supposed to get to choose all the powers and stats (Int, Wis, Cha) of the item.

The one obvious problem is _paying_ for the creation then. I've always assumed the creater had some say, and this rule was just telling us how to create "found" items.

Nope - this rule is found under Creating Intelligent Items. I understand the problems of meshing this with paying for it, but this is the way the rule reads. And it kind of makes sense - once you get into sentience, you really shouldn't have total control.

Intelligent Item Creation
To create an intelligent item, a character must have a caster level of 15th or higher. Time and creation cost are based on the normal item creation rules, with the market price values on Table: Item Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, and Capabilities treated as additions to time, gp cost, and XP cost. The item’s alignment is the same as its creator’s. Determine other features randomly, following the guidelines in the relevant section.

Yep, Deathwatch is, bizarrely, evil.

And while strictly speaking I don't get control over the item's features, the DM wants me (I'm pretty sure) to submit a proposal to him, which he can then tweak if he doesn't quite like it. Saves him time, and gets me an item that I'll like.

And I completely forgot about halving the cost of the item--stupid mistake! Thanks for the reminder on this point.

Interesting Josh--thanks! I just took a look at those, and they're very heavily geared toward weaponry, though. I'm not sure if they'd work for a bead of karma.

Of course since you have to pay cash and XP to grant each power...

You could just say "you want the ability to what? No way I'm spending on that."
