[D&D 4e] IG's "Those Left Behind, Chapter 4(e)"

Talashia blinks blearily and looks up. "Wuh?"

Shazi rolls his eyes. "Another terrible beast has set upon us," he whispers. "Call the full force of your magic before we are undone!"

The look Tala gives Shazi is full of hazy reproof. "I'm sleepy," she reminds her familiar. "Not an idiot, now pft, before he sees you."

The mephit vanished a puff of mist, invisible.

Talasha carefully unwrapped the borrowed blanket she had made a human burrito of herself within, and got to her feet.

"Can you direct us to the nearet city gate please?"

Upon seeing the old man and his 'weapon', Buurt flashes and simply toothy-grin and lets the pinks deal with one and other. Instead, he keeps his eyes focused on their surroundings.

Shaimon Hu'u, druidic human ranger

Shai sit up straight at the threat, but realizing the source, and seeing that Uulark and Talashia seem to be handling the nervous old man, he stays sitting to hide his size, and to keep Dyspeer laying down and less observed; farmers seemed awfully nervous about wolves, he'd found.

Rogash

The dwarf grins and says in a cheery voice. "We were sleeping and now we are seeking a good breakfast. We'd gladly reward you for helping us locate one."

As the old man speaks you notice a movement behind him as an overly large bear emerges from the hills. It gives pause for a moment as it surveys the group.

The old man, clueless, continues his verbal assault.

As is evident by the coordinates, there is more to this map than you can see. Feel free to move off screen if you need to, and I'll adjust.

Rogash and Buurt act first, then the bear. Then everyone else can go.

Fleet of foot, Buurt imposes himself between the old man and the vast ursine. As the ranger brings his crossbow to the ready, he pauses for but a moment and while his eyes keep steady on the target he casts his voice over his shoulder.

"I don't mean to interrupt your curtness, old man," asks the half-orc. "But do you happen to associate with a hill that impersonates a bear? If not, I'm fairly certain that you need to shut up and hide."

[sblock=Actions]
Move: AK26 to AE22
Minor: Hunter's Quarry on Dire Bear, +2d8 to damage dealt once per round.
Standard: Readied Evasive Strike (encounter power) if Dire Bear moves to attack
Free: If attack happens, and Buurt hits, he'll deal an additional 1d8+4 damage (furious assault ecounter power) to the Dire Bear. Additionally, as a daily power from his weapon if Buurt hits the target becomes weakened and has 5 poison damage ongoing, and a save will end both.
Bonus to hit: +1 if no one else is closer to foe.

Uulark Simental, Longtooth Shifter Cleric of Sehanine L11

Uulark takes charge of getting the man into a more secure position, if he will permit it. "Here, step this way, father, while we deal with this ferocious beast, please," he says, guiding the man gently so that he is on the far side of the party from the bear.
