Sounds like we're on the same page then. The Egyptian legends, garbled through time and language barriers, and perhaps confused by beings for whom form and being were more...fluid than they are for human beings...can be considered an interpretation of this goddess and her kin, and some of the events that transpired. They got some things right, and they got some things wrong, and some things they never knew about or simply couldn't grasp.
As for the fate of this goddess and her home...that is an exercise for the GM to decide of course. I have ideas, but part of the fun of a character like this is the journey of discovery.
