D&D eXPerience: Core Mechanics (now compiled in 1st post!)

This sounds pretty good, but three of the characters don't fit. The Wizard gets 5 at will powers. The Cleric gets 3 at will powers and 5 encounter powers. The Paladin gets 4 at will powers and 3 encounter powers (not counting the halfling racial). The other classes do fit the 2 at will, 1 encounter and 1 daily power formula though, assuming you take racials into account. The Paladin, Wizard and Cleric do list some of these extra powers as class features, though. Taking that into account, it does seem that Half-Elves and Humans get one extra power of their choice as a racial feature.

Do you think Int score impacts number of powers selected at 1st level (perhaps for the wizard)?

Wow, that fluff text and the example characters at the end scream: "All you World of Darkness players out there, come play D&D. Look! We can do whiny, dark, and brooding characters too."

And the modern names section, come on. Great. Now I never have to worry about players trying to make names that sound archaic. "What's your character's name again?" "Brooding Dark McDark." "Right. How could I forget."

Uh, I played the tiefling, and liked it, not thinking I would..

I would say, angry, arrogant, and about bringing the hurt. Not "edgy", whiny, and looking forward to the next conversation about vampire politics.

Extra Powers: this is coming from both class and race features. To go back to the not-storryteller-tiefling. One class feature is cantrips, giving him extra at wills. Another is spell book, giving him two dailies to choose from (but can only use one). His race gives him infernal wrath. Oh, and he has a wand that gives another per encounter.

I think default is two at wills, one per enounter, and one per day.

How did crits work?...

I think it was in the podcast that they confirmed all dice are maximized on a crit(Nat 20s, no confirmation roll), except in circumstances in which dice are added when you crit...I believe the example was given that if a SA rogue critted then the SA dice would be maxed but, if the character had a weapon that did +1d8 damage on a critical hit, this would not be maximized.

With the Pit fiend ability score mods, some theorized that the modifer after the score was for untrained skills.

Anything else from Davethegame besides that tiefling entry?

I see where you're getting that, but I disagree. My interpretation is that Skill Training lets you add another skill as a trained skill (in the Wizard's case, Stealth), and that the Tiefling has a +2 racial bonus to Stealth. Thus, +2 (Dex) +5 (Trained) +2 (racial) gives +9 total.
Yes, I think you're right there. I'll edit my post.

Yes, weapon damage is maxed. Longbow 1d10 does 10 damage on a crit. Any powers/bonuses that grant extra dice are still rolled.

Stacking (from Rob Heinsoo): certain character building options do not stack. In play, unnamed bonuses (most of them) stack. Keeping track of stacking in play not supposed to matter (as) much. (Own observation: ongoing damage: this all seems to have a type, I hope it doesn’t stack).

I had a nasty encounter with an acid-friendly enemy. He had two attacks that could put down 5 ongoing acid damage. Each attack didn't seem to stack with itself, but they did stack with each other, and you had to save separately to stop each effect.

Scale = 5
Hey, how did you figure this one? I get a value of six from the Dwarf Fighter:
10 + 1(DEX) + 2(Hvy Sh) + 6(Scale) = 19
Makes more sense, I entirely agree, but how did you get it?
